Hi everyone!

I'm new here, as you can see...and I really have NO clue how to use this message board (it took me literally 20 minutes to figure out how to get to post a new thread!). A little background:

I used to really be hardcore into collecting, I started when I was 18 (I'm 30 now...time flies!). I've amassed a fair amount of ponies, some are pristine, some not so much. I've moved around a lot, and for the past 5 years, I've had no place to display my ponies, so they've been in storage :cry2: I am planning on going back to school, and find myself struggling to pay my way back in. As much as I hate the idea of parting with my ponies, I think this is for the best. They shouldn't be sitting in storage, they should be visible and enjoyed by someone.

The only way I would want to sell them is by making sure they go to a good home. I have no idea how to get started with this, there are so many of them (close to 500?). Does anyone have any pointers, or ideas? I was thinking of making a list, with their conditions, then making pics available on request...is that appropriate? On top of that, I am really unsure the best way to post them up. I'd really appreciate any tips and advice!

Thank you for any help!

I think the best way would be to take some pictures of your ponies and write down a good description about their condition/flaws as well as the price in the "Want to Sell" section. Also what payment you will accept and what countries you will ship to. I am actually looking to buy some more new ponies but sometimes the shipping scares me off lol.

Thank you!

Thanks, Chun Li!

I just started "cataloging" ponies today...I had to recruit a friend to help me, and we gave up after a few hours, less than a quarter done! This is gonna be a project!

Selling, it really depends on what you have, condition, and the time you'll be able to dedicate to selling to find the best route.

First, what you're doing now is perfect trying to ID everything. if you are unsure of any names "dream valley" collector guide online is an easy one (and fun) to skim through by year to see what you have. Next, I'd group them in little armies. by year and set mail order ponies together, is easiest for id purposes. snap some group pictures, maybe 20-30 ponies per photo, again in neat rows they can be easily Id'd.

If you look in your profile or beside your name in your posts here you'll see a gallery link. Click that and you can upload pictures to you own album here. and then making another post asking us if we see anything special, will be able to quickly point out if you have any valuable ones. :)

Anything valuable is worth selling on it's own, people will pay well for mimic on her own (she's the green jewel eyed in the middle of the picture below), and less for her if she's only a part of a large lot.
to time save selling (also spending less on packaging supplies and having less buyers to keep track of) I like grouping like inexpensive ponies together in sets and selling them as small lots if I'm doing clear outs and don't have a lot of time on my hands. (worthwhile if time spent on packaging, shipping $4-6 ponies individually to different buyers isn't worth the time)

I agree with what the others have said about identifying them and selling some as lots, and others individually.

It would also be good for you to post a link to your ebay profile (if you have one) or some sort of way for members to get references about you, since some people may be weary of buying from someone who doesn't have feedback on the forums.

I'm so sorry!! I wouldn't be able to stand parting with ANY of my ponies. D:
