I found a TE Whizzer at a local thrift store yesterday (yay!) I didn't have her so she is very welcome here - but her head is darker than her body and it has a bit of splotchy coloration - is this regrind or somewhat normal?
PS: She came with an original ribbon and I didn't know the TE had ribbons too!
Any info is welcome - she may have a slight forelock trim - but I love her anyway!

Hi!

TE Whizzer was a Year 4 MLP release.
She came with a Light Purple Ribbon, and a Purple Star Comb.

The comb was purple, but looked like this:

Hope this helped! :)

Congrats on your awesome find!

EDIT:
The splotches might be basic discoloration.
I'd Loove to see your Whizzer, if you felt like adding a photo of her here!

I've got a place holder Whizzer who is like that, head and body mis-match. She seems to be very prone to it, I've seen quite a few in this state! She also seems to be one of those that is prone to cancer too, out of the 4 I've had my hands on 3 of them had lovely cancer blotches and different head colours, my current one was the best!

pics added!

So I noticed that some of my other TE are a rag tag mob, and Whizzer will fit right in!

Maybe her light purple ribbon faded to white - her hair is really nice and I guess it's not cut and I have to do something about Sweet Pop someday because she had an overal trim and a bit of a mohawk!

couple more pics

Purple mane rested on this side and it looks like purple and pink splotches. Dust

You can see the light and dark color differences better in one of these pics.

Oh, yeah.. looks like regular discoloration.
I've seen alot of mlps with pink marks.. its weird.

As far as her body not matching her head:
It could be possible that someone replaced her head before she found her way to you.

One way to lighten the color of her head to match the rest of her body - pop her head off, and sun-fade the head.
But.. if you chose to do this.. just be sure to cover her eyes and hair.
The sun would probably fade her hair.
Not so sure what the sun would do to twinkle eyes.
But.. to be safe.. I'd def protect the eyes.

She's a very pretty pony! :)
Congrats!!!!

I currently have 5 TE Ponies:
Party Time, Speedy, Galaxy, Tic Tac Toe and... (drum roll)... Mimic!

But I def wanna buy a Whizzer someday!
In fact.. I want ALL the TE Ponies!
They are very addicting!!!
:bliss:

Edit:
Btw.. the pics you added here which are side by side,
you may want to edit them - just display the pics *on top of one another*... rather than side by side.
Only because its making the page scroll, which I think is in the rules somewhere here on this forum.
Just dont want ya to get in trouble!
Thats all! ;)
It doesnt bother me - the pics being side by side.
I just remember seeing a rule on here that said to avoid "page scrolling".

Let me know whenever you get more TE Ponies!!!
And I certainly hope you can find a Mimic someday!!!!!!
(crossing my fingers for ya!)

HI, I guess I will have to read up on how to reduce the size of the pics - it's about 5 am - I have to run off to work soon, but Thanks for the well wishes on finding a Mimic and yes TE are addicting LOL - Whizzer makes 6 for me! I received speedy in a birthday swap and I think one more - but Gingerbread or Sweet pop came in a mystery package someone was selling on this forum and I can't help but love her! I bought Masquerade and I think I wanted Tic Tac Toe, but decided I had to wait... Thanks again and I don't know what I will do yet about the blotches on her neck (Whizzer). Dust

You did fine resizing them, hun~ ;)
I had to go back and resize a few of my post.

For a thrift store find, she's in awesome shape! Congrats!

Again, congratulations on the find, that's an awesome one! We don't have many thrift stores around here, so my only means of getting older ponies is through the internet. :/

Those blotches on Whizzer are most definitely regrind. I've got a Galaxy with the exact same problem, though it doesn't seem as pronounced as in yours.

I'm just curious... exactly what is "regrind"?
I can spot cancer easily, but.. this regrind stuff has me a bit confused.
Can regrind spread.. like cancer?

Well, from what I can gather, regrind happens when the different plastics/vinyl start showing their true colors, so to speak, through the aging process. I don't know if it spreads, but since it has to to with the plastic itself, I'd say probably not.

I got most of my info from here: The MLP Preservation Project: Regrind
