Well me and my mom poked a hole in the ceiling in the corner so water drips out, the Dehumidfier is working really well and the musty smell is gone. The MOC argie ponies are okay for the most part, I ironed them and I think some of them looked better than to begin with. MOC Gusty is almost good as new. Now to wait for them to fix this

The ceiling above the shelves where my ponies are has mold, its been an on-going problem I thought was fixed but its gotten worse...

the other day I noticed my SS satin was REALLY dirty... and the shelf was dirty too. Its only in one small spot but its been raining here on and off for a few days and I just went to rearrange some ponies and they are WET with nasty smelly water. Its not TOO bad but its been happening for a while apparently. I live in a condo and they NEVER fixed ANYTHING WHEN THEY SAID THEY DID!!!!!!!!! I told my mom that the mold was starting to spread but now the fact that its LEAKING makes me REALLY angry....

so now satin is dirty... I dont know how to clean her without messing up her flocking. Oxyclean?

Off to take ALL my ponies off the shelf.... grrrrr

EDIT: OOOHHH now Im livid...... I had a MINT MOC baby sparkle gusty... who is not mint anymore, her card is WARPED and damp.... I luckily got it really cheap. My argies are probably wet too (Their cards were bad to begin with though so I can barely tell) Im going to try to iron it but I am so beyond angry its not even funny...

EDIT:

Pictures... I'm seriously crying now. Like things aren't bad enough for me right now.... LOL the good news is the wall looks worse than the backs of the card... lol screw you wall.

BEFORE (like last year... you can see we were having problems with the ceiling)

This was the worst of the damage, THANK GOD my rarer stuff is either not wet or SLIGHTLY warped (pretty sure I can fix that with low heat on the iron)

That SUCKS! I'm so sorry! Is your collection insured? Maybe it would be a good idea to if this is going to continue to be a problem?

As far as cleaning: Oxyclean, Soft Scrub, and a tooth brush should clean her up nicely. Remember not to scrub too hard, though. I personally like to use a face brush, as they are softer and develop a nice lather, but soft-bristeled tooth brushes are fine, too. You can also use dish soap (or shampoo & conditioner) to make her flocking soft and sqeaky clean.

Remember to wash her under cool water though, as hot/warm water loosens up the glue like Flocking Kryptonite.

omg! That really sucks! We're going through something similiar although, thank goodness it didn't get to my ponies! We had alot of rain last weekend and our finished basement flooded and started to grow mold. We've had to have a company come in and put huge fans etc....all around the basement and we've also had to have all the carpet ripped up. It's been a sucky week! I would be so mad if if had gotten to my ponies! I'm sorry that happened. I'd definately complain to your manager. That's just not right that they aren't fixing things when they say they will. *hugs* hopefully you can clean your ponies up and they will be ok.

!!

OMG!!! It keeps getting worse... Thank god these argies arent rare.... my drink n wets card has MOLD all over the back of it, this is horrible!!!! Im not terribly upset cuz like I said the card wasnt too good to begin with but thats not the point, Im flipping out and crying over this and my mom thinks Im insane.... Id love to smash something important to HER so she understands (I wouldnt but you get my point....)

Ill take pictures because this is just disgusting...

Oh my gosh!! I didn't have a water problem, but mold grew in my pony corner. No-one would sort it out.... I was considering getting rid of a lot of my collection just cos I didn't want them ruined. That would have been heartbreaking - but nowhere near as heartbreaking as ruined ponies. At least someone else could have enjoyed them.

Anyway, I sorted it myself eventually. if you want a job done..... *sigh*

Okay progress... The mold wiped right off, must have been from the last time it rained, Its actually been a good summer here without much rain but when it rains it pours (uh... literally?)

The one thing Im greatful for is that I didn't move like I was going to, I was going to leave all my ponies since I have SO many and I knew theyd be "safe" here at my moms. 50/50 chance I would have checked the cards, They did look a little worse than they were to begin with....

Now I know why moving fell through....

Just wish me luck on cleaning up satin and ironing out the warping on the cards...

Hey

First off, mold is DANGEROUS to YOU, not just your ponies. I had/have the same problem here with mold and mildew. Since your landlord wont fix it, call them and tell them you are ordering a test for the mold. Then call around and find a company that will test to see what kind of mold it is. (It should cost about 20-40 dollars). Make sure you get a written report from the company that tested (and photocopy it a few times). THEN, call your landlord again and tell them, look, here are the results of the test, I want the mold removed. Also send them a written statement (via signature confirmation priority mail) that says 'I have had this issue for such and such amount of time, I have taken upon myself for the health and ssafety of those living in my condo to have the mold tested, here are the results (include photocopied results). I want this mold removed IMMEDIATELY. This condition has worsened due to your lack of responsiblity in taken care of the problem when you were first notified.' Be sure to include that you WILL take any measures necessary to force them to fix it (as it is their legal obligation) INCLUDING but not limited to LEGAL ACTION.

I had to go through all this with my landlord because she is a slum-lord. I went as far as to seek free legal counsel from a few different lawyers, as well. Check the laws in your state. It may be that they have 30 days to fix the problem after written notice, after which you can pay to have it fixed yourself then take it out of the rent.

I also suggest you get a de-humidifier for that room.

Good luck, hun, and I hope you can clean your ponies and get rid f that retched mold!

You took the words out of my mouth... Its going to rain here for the next 2 days NON-STOP... Im in the process of moving the dehumidifier. (its big and heavy)

Basically, my attic is leaking. We had a fan installed up there however many years ago and thats what caused this leaking i think. And i swear the harder the rain gets, I can SEE the ceiling getting wet in spots.

I heard some horror stories about the laws in NJ about mold. I couldnt smell it before but now that its out in the open and its raining I can definately smell it slightly.

The ponies are for the most part, safe.... but this is going to be a long process of moving EVERYTHING out of the closet (ITS HUGE)

I think a few of my ponies that had cancer got worse too, I neglected my collection for a year and I didnt live here for a whole 3 months!!!

The argies and my sparkly gusty got it the worst... Im drying them under a fan. The argies are what molded bad, they were dirty to begin with which made a perfect environment for mold. When i first got them i wiped them with soap and water VERY carefully. This time im going to have to use windex or something to kill the mold.

My mom doesnt even care about the ponies at all. I really freaked out on her, shes such a psycho with this "Your ponies are rediclous and you have too many" then the next week she buys me ponies.... psycho.

The dehumidifer works really well and its working at full capacity right now...

i'm sorry hun that must really be horrible for you. But i have a suggestion for the SS. I had a really dirty one and i used a power shower head and held her up really close, it blasted all the dirt off but left her flocking on and it worked really well, you could try that.

First off, I'm really sorry this is happening to you, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enermy.
But you can take action, whilst dealing with the problem baggie up all your loose and put your ponys in plastic containers honey, don't leave it to get worse.
I'm so pleased some of it wiped off and I hope you can get something done soon.
xx

Same as i had roof problem, raining through my bedroom but lucky no ponies on table, but roof is finally fixed and new cover, no more raining through again.

Move your ponies away from raining area :/

Sorry to hear! :( *hugs*

Windex wont kill the mold. Bleach WILL. Even if it's diluted. I suggest using two cups of water and ONE drop of bleach. That's diluted enough so that it shouldn't hurt the ponies (be sure to rinse them after), but strong enough to kill the mold (according to the health department and OSHA, anyway). We have to use a weaker dilution than that at my job, and it works there.

time to call a roofer! They had something like that on one of those late evening news shows like dateline talking about that kind of mold making people sick. You really should get a repair person out there to give you an estimate and also try to find a save place to store the rest of your babies.

Yes luckily Im boxing up all my ponies (which is very sad in itself) Only a few actually got water on them its the MOCs that are the absolute worst. Only one shelf and a corner of the other was effected. But I will have to start wiping them down with the water/bleach solution to be safe.

My worry now is replacing the shelving. Its cork board or someting I dunno what to call it... I know mold will grow in there.

Dehumidifer is working well.... I cant believe how much water its getting out of the air

Re:

OMG... That is horrible! I would freak. Seriously, I don't know what I would do. Cry, cry and then cry some more probably.

It's not so much that I'm THAT attached to material things but when you love something and put effort and money into it and it gets ruind you wonder what on earth you have done on this earth do deserv that... This is why I don't believe in carma and so on :p

I hope things work out for you and, after all, you have to think that it's materialistic stuff after all... Still... it majorly sucks =( *lots of hugs*

Oh wow! I'm so sorry for all that is happening to you!
