Is it worth keeping some 25th anniversary ponies in their box?

EDIT: Sorry! I don't have a SET, I mean any 25th anniversary pony)

EDIT: I was wondering if they'll be worth something in the future (Them Being from the 25th anniversary ^^)

Thanks x

Personally, I like to keep *everything* in the box!
Especially if they look good! ( some exceptions of course, like my Pullip dolls were de-boxed, but the boxes were saved)

All of my Lord of the Rings toys as well as G3's (and any other toy lines I have bought, Atlantis figures, etc) I will not open unless I have a second package to do it with!

Sure, that limits my "open" toys....but I find I lose the accessories, and I really do like the effort they put into the 25 anni ponies (I think they did a nice job!! They look better than any of the G3 packages, and I still keep all those in the box too) LOL

Do what you want......they are yours of course!

I think its always better to leave in the box, but you are talking to a MOC/MIB collector here ^^

*Twinks*

I try to keep the ponies I get MIB in the box. However, if there came a day when I ran out of room and it meant keeping the pony out of the box or getting rid of ponies, I would take them out of the box. I say keep it MIB for a while...you may decide that you would rather have it out of the box.

I love deboxing ponies to take them out and mess with - but in the case of a set like that, I would leave them MIB - They're displayed very nicely in the box anyway ^_^

I probably wouldn't open it. I have it in my living room on a console table. The only reason why I wouldn't open it is because I think it looks really cute on display like that. If I wanted to style the ponies or play with them, I'd probably open it but be super careful and return them to their place. I don't know how I would do that, tho since G3 packaging seems to be a nightmare

ALL of my ponies are NOT mib, they are set free. The only problemwith leting them free though,is ALL of the little accesories.
I for one, think that if you want to keep them MIB,keep them MIB:sunny:

Ok! (Some people think Im on about a certain set. IM NOT. I'm on about ANY G3 25th anniversary pony"!!!!!)

I honestly don't think the fact they're from the 25th anniversary releases will make a difference on their value :p

The only anniv set I got was the Blossom/Minty/Snuzzle set. I opened it, and I loved it. Need to have my hands on their little plastic selves! If you're just going to display them, leave them in nox. I like to touch and play with mine. If you just take your ponies and never play with them, leave them in. It's different for everyone. In my opinion though, I open the G1 revives for nostalgic reasons, and the G3s.. I don't need another pinkie pie floating around, and the box is pretty...

How do you enjoy your toys?

I have the 25th ann collector's set's of of the original six. I really love the package, so I kept them in. On my other g3's I open them. Because I *hate* the packaging.

As for future worth, that's really difficult to tell. But my best guess is they won't be worth very much in the future. Almost nobody saw the future collector market of the G1's. For the most part, they were given to children to play with.

Meanwhile some of those same folks bought "holiday collector" barbies for their daughters. They kept them in boxes as an "investment" because it was becoming known at the time some of the early barbies from 59' and the early 60's were selling in the $1000's among adult collectors. Those "holiday" collector doll's released around the same time as MLP are pretty much worthless now. I wouldn't take them for free. And g1 mlp's MIP as we know are highly sought after.

I think a lot of people are doing the same thing with MLP. People know that folks like us spend crazy amounts on the vintage ponies. So, they think that if they hoard 100's of the new ponies for 20 years in the box they'll cash in too. Problem is, if too many keep these things around MIB there will be an abundance of them later. (we all know what happens with too much supply and little demand) My point is, If you want to make money, look into high interest accounts and not collectibles.

So if you want to open your 25th anni ponies - don't feel guilty about it. Open them, enjoy them and style the hair. :sunny: A hobby is something to have fun with.

I open all my ponies, mostly because I think that they were meant to be played with and enjoyed and I feel sorry for them staying cooped up in their boxes. I take very good care of them though, and they're displayed neatly and carefully (except my childhood collection obviously), and I *keep* the boxes, but nothing I have is MIB

Correction, my Twinkle Hope is still MIB, but that's because - due to a shipping mixup, she's in Canada and I'm not..

I keep all mine mib unless I have a duplicate. or just really want to open and touch a pony.

I free all of my ponies from their plastic prisons but thats just me :p I don't think I'd enjoy my collection at all MIB.
I think that generally things are worth more MIB than loose but for me its not worth keeping the value to not be able to display/style/cuddle my ponies :p

All of my ponies I keep exceptionally good care of unless they are super baity.
It differs from person to person though for sure!

I just wanted to say, as my own rule I leave them MIB, only because I like the way they look, never touched, however i think this is only since i can still find many G3's out of the box. Now G1's have been really hard to find recently in my area. I have lots of fun trying to restore any pony to their former glory. I have left every pony in the box if that is how i bought/found/recived them. All of the rest of my heard are out and free to roam.

I don't think it will matter that much in a few years, I would never sell any of my MIB unless I had 2. but thats just me. :blah:

I think de-boxed ponies look better, so sometimes I buy two of the same pony just so I can have one MIB, and one to de-box - but that only applies to G3's... I have 2 MOC G1's an it is kind of hard not to open them, but then I think of how hard to find they are, and that a mint one would work just as well.

Open!

I can't stand to NOT open the boxes -- even the G1 MOC ponies I purchase, I open them! Some think I'm crazy, but I like displaying out of the box. And like someone else here said, I also like messing with them, their hair mostly. I've purchased several 25th anniversary ponies and opened them all!

I guess it depends on whether or not you plan to sell them at any time. If chances are that you will never sell them -- open them! If you think that at some point in time you will sell them, you'll get more out of them for selling them. For me, I know if I ever sell them, I still own the boxes, so I know I'll get a little more out of them for having the box, just not as much as if they would be MIB.

Let us know what you decide to do! :sunny:

Very nicely said FantasticFirely! I 100% agree! :sunny:

I think you should do what you want with them! They will certainly be easier to find MIB than any G1 in the future, so in case you regret opening them in a few years, it wont be too difficult to replace! Do what makes you happ! :)
