My husband purchased a bunch of old catalogs today and in a Sears 1984 catalog he came across a page containing the original My Little Pony. I thought you all might enjoy these photos (and Mr. Handsome Stud from an old late 1970's catalog, LOL) :

Those are great pics!

I love the Fashion Beat ad.!! lol
The poses are just so ridiculous

Just think.... years from now people will look at Target and Sears books, and think our fashion is ridiculous.

Thanks for posting these. Brings back memories of hot chocolate, Frosty the Snowman, and spending hours with the sears Christmas catalog and circling all the awesome toys that I wanted. (I don't think I circled Mr. Fashion Beat though hahaha)

Blue Belle is just called "Belle" on that catalog page. Weird. Not as weird as HRH Fashion Beat, the dancing king of polyester, though. XD

Great catalogue, wish I could go back in time and order from there.

Guys serioulsy dressed like that - wow......At least the ponies are cute!

:eek:mg: All those guys look like they are doing some serious dance movements in those pictures. :hide:

It's cool how they called the Show Stable the Beauty Stable in the catalogue. I wonder when it got changed.

Imagine - that guy in the catalogue probably had a total ego about being a "male model" LMAO!

What awesome pictures! Thank you so much for sharing. I would love to get an old catalog like that.

LOL...I thought the 'Mr Stud" was a doll...TOO FUNNY. Thanks for the great MLP pics :)

Ya know, those cataloge pics may answer the question of where did "Baby Butterscotch" fit into the My Pretty Pony timeline. Looks like that set was offered by the Sears catalog... perhaps it was an exclusive?

Thanks for sharing the pics! I also remember circling the toys I wanted in the xmas catalog with my grandmother. :love3:

Hi

Love seeing old advertisments like that, did anyone see the new sears wish book? there is a pony bed set in it now. it took for ever for the bedding to come to canada.
at least my area.
:daisy:

Those are great, that's awesome that you got some of the actual catalog! I have spent hours looking at scans online remembering the different toys I had as a kid and checking out the MLP ads.

Wishbook's photosets on Flickr

This person on flickr scanned a whole bunch of the catalogs and if you scroll down to the 1980's sets there are a number of Sears Wishbooks and TRU ads to look through.
