Pony boxes and packaging. What to do with them?

I was pondering this thought and figured, where better to ask than here? I've got quite a few ponies now. Quite a few is probably an understatement, but... Boxes. So far, I've kept all the boxes since I've opened them and set the ponies up. That leaves me with boxes, a lot of empty boxes. The more I collect, the more boxes I'm winding up with. For reference, these are G4s. So no need to worry about that ultra rare G1 having it's packaging tossed in the dumpster. :)

With things like video games and such, I do keep the boxes. However, I noticed with everything else, the boxes are promptly thrown in the trash. I thought, hmmm, am I being silly keeping all these empty boxes for the ponies? It's not like I'll ever put them back in. For most it was generally a tug of war just to remove them from their plastic casing. By the way, I think Boba Fett was hired to encase them all in carbonite during packaging. Most of the boxes have themselves been placed in plastic storage bins. So, big boxes holding loads of smaller boxes.

Do I really need to keep them? Is there some benefit? I'll sell them the day after the universe ends, so... Then I thought, hmmm, compromise? Remove the bulky clear plastic housing and keep the remaining paper parts and backing which are generally flat. I can see that much as most do have pony bios and other information on them.

I just don't know... What do you all do? What would you do?

i usually keep the paper parts, and if there are a lot of small bits i keep them in the box and just get the pony out. if the box is very nice i would keep it, but those normal small squares.... well i don't keep them around anyways. i don't have room, nor do i want a box with boxes as you say

I know I save em to use when I ship paper or something that can bend so I can affix it to the cardboard =)

Not trying to bbe a smarty pants or anything, but honestly - recycle it all. It's amazingly freeing and sudenly yields up a whole pile of storage space, not to mention reducing a fire risk.

If the designs mean too much to you to toss out without making a record of it, then either cut out and file the card art that you like in a flip folder or consider just scanning it all so you can have digital copies.

I used to hoard the packaging on my stuff, but it got insane. I binned it all and have never missed it since.

Good luck!

I recycle all I can but there's always a ton of clear plastic.
I don't have the space for any boxes anymore. I try (if I remember to keep the barcode) just in case Hasbro does an incentive. I doubt they'll do one anytime soon if at all but I'll be prepared.

I just toss my boxes. I have a few that were the 25th anniversary Halloween ponies that are still in their boxes but other than that? I saved the back cards and tossed the rest. I don't plan on parting with my ponies ever, so I don't see the point in keeping the whole boxes.

So basically, the boxes have no worth/doesn't increase pony worth?..
Makes sense though! I guess it only mattered with G1s when nobody cared as much so finding ones with boxes were rarer. In modern days when so many collectors treasure every part and hope the ponies will increase in value over the next 20 years.. probably only ones of G4 that will ever sell exceptionally unlike G1s are variants (ie. Pinkie Pie with wings).

I just keep the backcards, though I love the Core 7 boxes so I keep the whole thing. Of course if I get my hands on a G1 box, I'm so keeping.
