there were bugs on her? oh man. your a brave woman Drusilla, I woulda run away in terror or made my bf do it. but that's an incredible story behind an even more incredible find and that BBE giant....I thought the originals were creepy but that thing looks like it could challenge Freddy Krueger, come out the victor and be the new thing to terrorize elm street as it comes into your room and devours the petrified occupants.

Wasn't there like a gigant Sweet Heart sister out there too that someone found?

There were 3! :D Jewel has one, one went to another collector, and the third went to an anonymous person off the boards. (right, Jewel?)

And I wanted to mention that Giant BBE Baby Sundance was NOT in the stage show I saw. But for reals, dru, I have touched your Giant Sundance and for years after I coveted both her and the Rainbow Locket that Megan was wearing. :)

There are other giants too, I have pictures of them, they are the Illuminated ponies from the UK. A member here purchased Baby Cuddles. I'll pull out some pics of them from the old MLPTP archives here and post them on the weekend. ( I am working all day today....)

Yup :) I have the purple one, Woosie has the pink, and the yellow one's whereabouts are sadly unknown.

Here's a bit about mine, for anyone curious..

Giant Sweetheart Sister Pony

This "life-size" My Little Pony stands at 49", or just over 4 feet tall. It is made from a strange plastic compound that weighs close to 250lbs including its base. It depicts a Sweetheart Sister Pony which looks very similar to Spring Song, with added embellishments to her mane and tail, and a headdress of flowers. Through the body of the pony is a spiraling wooden post, used in its original purpose as a carousel post.

This pony, as well as its two fellow handmade one-of-a-kind yellow and pink counterparts, was used in a 1986 commercial for My Little Pony. In this commercial, three girls sit upon these giant ponies on a spinning carousel in the commercial's opening. After production, the ponies were stored in a warehouse and untouched for about 20 years. In 2007, during a cleaning out of that warehouse in Orlando, FL, these ponies were discovered and put up for sale. Each had to be shipped through freight. I purchased the purple one because it happens to be my favorite color.

And this is the commercial she was featured in; thanks to Woosie for posting it:

i have reached out to the dogpatch facebook group in hopes of finding more information. i have also sent messages to former dogpatch employees through facebook. so now a bunch of people think im crazy but i send them a good story asking for the information. maybe someone will contact me.

oh man can you imagine if bbe baby sundances eyes do blink? freak me out !!!

i often wonder where the giant yellow pony went to from the commercial, i hope it is a collector. i am thrilled the two others are in collectors hands. i am curious to know what those ponies sold for on ebay?

i have seen many pictures of the ponies in blackpool, they looked fantastic all lit up. i would have loved to get one of those :) i would have loved to see it before it was taken apart as well

Wow~ SHS's are about one of my top favs of pony bases, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside knowing there's giant statues of them out there in the world~ *3*

As I recall the big three sold for around 400...but shipping was almost as much!

Why would Hasbro write We have the future under control? lol

I never liked Sweetheart Sisters as a kid, but that's definitely one pony I'd love to have in giant form!

Giant Sundance? Wow, that is awesome!

Sadly,I don't have any brochures or something, but I want that BBE Sundance lol

So many cool things. I knew about giant Sundance and vaguely remember something about the giant sweetheart sisters but that light up display is the most awesome thing ever. Sad that they got rid of it. I hope it got bought up, all by collectors or at least people that will take care of it.
