I have 4 pearly babies- A Moondancer and Glory that are stamped China, and another Moondancer and Glory that are stamped Hong Kong.

Is one set more rare than the other? From the 4 I have, it looks like the Hong Kong ones have a slightly greener/goldish hue to them than the China ones, and the Hong Kong ones have slightly smaller symbols.

Does anyone have any info. on pricing/rarity for each of these?

*Edit: Also, someone asked me about a TE Fizzy I am auctioning currently- they asked if it says "pat pend" under 1 of the hooves. What's the significance of this? :)

Anyone know anything about this, or about the difference between Hong Kong and China ponies in general? Why are there two different stamps?

I am piggy-backing this thread, because im curious as well!

I would like to know the difference too. I have a HK and China Baby CC and they are different colors too. Wish I knew if one was rarer.

this has to do with whether it is a German or non-German pony i believe. in Germany the patent wasn't valid so they covered that part up. i've a Tex and a TE TicTacToe who both are missing their "pat. pend"s; Tex i bought from Germany though. the missing "pat pend" doesn't really affect thed value i've been told; it's just a neat fun fact sort of thing

That's not strictly true. The pat pend was removed because the ponies were made after the patent had been granted. Hence, it was no longer "pending." There are no pat pend versions to be found in lots of places.

The pearly babies: Hong Kong has a thinner coating, China thicker, its also very noticeable.

HK Versions when scratched up can almost look like non pearly,

the eyes on china version are also very thick with pearly coating in comparison.

Both seem to sell for same amount, though China versions IMO are much nicer and more pearly,

I always mention the difference when Ive sold any of them.

SS:)
