I am just starting my vintage MLP collection. I've been saving and want a special show stopper piece. Found a Princess Sparkle 1984 and her baby buggy. It's starting price is $115, need advice if this is a good price. I can't find them anywhere else and the last price I could find was an expert in 2003 saying it was worth $150. Please help this newcomer.....should I buy it? If I wait will I ever find one again?

Thank you for anyone taking the time to respond!

I'm not sure on this one, but try posting a price check in general MLP Discussion. You should get an answer there pretty quick!

Hi there!
Well, I have seen the buggy sell complete from anywhere between $70-$150. The important question is, would it be worth $135 to you? There are many sought after sets in the MLP line, if this is one of your favorites why not go for it. Personally I recommend against buying ponies just because they are sought after or rare, or to have something "brag worthy", Instead buying the ones that you'd really love to have and enjoy. :) Sometimes sets fall in and out of favour, or prices can go down due to someone finding old store stock. MLP "Mommy Charms" are an example. They used to be highly sought after, valuable, and fairly HTF they now sell for less then a third of what they used to and go unsold often.

Are all the pieces present with the set?
Buggy: basket, wheels, handle, umbrella on pole, heart topper
Accessories:
2 white with silver threading lace trim pieces.
1 metallic fuschia ribbon (ties to heart topper)
1 White with silver floral mesh bow (for baby sparkle)
1 pink fuzzy blanket
1 Turquoise Baby Dish
1 Pink spoon
1 Turquoise Sippy Cup
1 Shooting Star hair clip
1 Duckie Comb (deep purple or a bright purple/pink)

I got her in near mint condition off of eBay about 1 1/2yrs ago complete with all her accessories, box, and information sheet for around 115 including shipping.

I was not able to get her as a child and always wanted her. I thought the price I paid was a little on the high end then, but I think she was worth it to me....so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice on this pony. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you really love her go ahead, but know that you may be over-paying a bit for the set.

Alone baby princess sparkle usually fetches around $35
The baby buggy is harder to find and it's valued at $80

The auction market has ups and downs, and the pony market is no different. Generally speaking things sell for more in the winter months than they do in the summer months.

Thank you so much for the advice everyone. I really do think she is beautiful and I too never had her but would have died for her. I think the auction looks pretty good, the buggy colors don't look faided and look to be in good shape.

I think I may bid....little gift to myself! ;):smilepony:

I think fantastic firefly has good advice about buying ponies that you really want, not just because they are super rare. Honestly, I don't see Princess Baby Buggy come up that often, if you really wanted that set, I would say go for it. Now if it was like $500 I might say, yikes that's a little much! Good luck. :winkpony:

I see the auction, that would be your call but it doesn't have any of the accessories. I wouldn't go much higher than the starting price personally, but that's me it's up to you in the end.

Without the accessories anything close to $100 sounds much too high. This set comes up much more often (some regularity on ebay) as just a bare buggy and pony, so if you skip this one you'll get another opportunity soon enough for a much lower price. It's those little pieces that push up the value. :)

I paid about that for mine almost complete with her in near mint condition back when the market was probably higher than it is now - if you really want her be patient and you'll get a better deal. The buggy doesn't appear super often but often enough that you'll another chance soon enough and I'm sure for a better price too
