How hard to find are Takara Ponies?

I mean the adult ones, I'm wondering because I joined here when I saw one was listed here about a year ago but I wasn't able to make an offer and she was sold before my registration was even approved

My Uncle has several jobs that he's applying for teaching English in Japan but then I've noticed that even the auction websites there don't always have anything from them let alone the Ponies themselves

Pretty hard, I'm afraid. There are, what, maybe 6-10 in the community?

Even in Japan, good luck finding them. My boyfriend was there for 3 months last summer and didn't see ANYTHING pony. Though they're getting FiM this April.

If you want a Takara, you'll have to be of much patience and deep pockets.

Quite honestly, I think fakies are SCURRY looking but the Takara's are ok in my book.. cute looking. Geeze, what toy IS made from Japan thats not fugly looking? I can't even name one thing. I guess they've just mastered the very definition of 'cute'. XD

My brother is heading off to Japan in May, and I've been leaving hints and telling him all about those.... I'd be happy with him just bringing me a fakie, lol!

Exactly what Skeen said. There's always fakies of the babies if you really want one. They're much more affordable. (I want to say around $30?)

Love Takaras, hate the price tag. XD

I've been to Japan many times and look and ask all the time. They weren't popular or long running so they are VERY hard to find. It would be like someone trying to find G1 ponies at a thrift store now. They are quite impossible to find.

...So those kind of fakies/ponies are worth big bucks? Oh my gawd I've seen so many (probably fakies, but still) and never picked them up...

Takaras are NOT fakies. They are official ponies, licensed by Hasbro for production in Japan. Most of the BABIES are fakies, but there are some authentic ones around.

I think they meant they have seen Takara fakies around and never picked them up.

Rumours are there are two authentic babies: Lili and Popo. But they don't show up in the commercial and I wonder if anyone has ever seen them or has them? There are other rumours that Takara was planning on producing baby Takara's, but stopped their Osharena Pony line before they ever came out. Prototypes must have been made and a mall, because all the baby fakies are made using Takara diecasts or are at least using diecasts based on them.
Aaah, the mystery of the Takara ponies... If only we lived in the eighties right now!
I wonder if any more Takara's will show up in the future? I've only seen pictures of two genuine Takara's so far (My Little Wiki).
They say a genuine Takara Pony has markings on her neck and you have to actually pop the head to see them ( source: mlparena, topic: I found a Takara pony and I cant get it! Re: I got it! ).
A lot of Takara fakies were sold in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, so I guess I have to look out for them from now on ('cause I didn't know they were worth anything up 'till now, thanks to you guys)!
