Rehair preferences, what's your take?

I couldn't decide if this goes in customs, or restorations- so if a mod can move it to correct place for me that would be great!

I have a few badly cut hair ponies that will need to be rehaired. I am bouncing back and forth on restoring to original color and style, or giving it a fresh new look.

What's your take? Consider if its a common pony vs an expensive least common. Do you prefer original looks for these ponies? Or do you not care for classic looks with new hair and prefer/insist on original hair?
Would you prefer to buy a pony with original style or all new hairdo?

I have 3 SHS and a Cranberry Muffin that needs to be haired up that I am itching to do today. For doubles, I'd do fun colors to my preferences for sure. but these aren't doubles and a bit harder to come by, and I simply can't decide!

I mostly prefer the original, but I like pretty rehairs.

If the hair is destroyed and it’s a common pony, I personally prefer the original, but I think original styles are so cool and fun. Especially because rehairs are reversible, there’s no harm in it.

that would depend on the pony for me! if they already have a gorgeous original look (in my opinion) i would probably try to rehair them to match, but if i'm not a fan of their original hair color(s), i would definitely do my own take instead XD for example, my ringlets is getting restored to her original colors, but if my SS paradise needed new hair, i would be designing her a new color scheme for sure, as i'm not a fan of the original color on her :')

i don't always restore damaged or cut hair though, like if it's just some bangs or something – not because i particularly care about it being "original," but because i like a diverse collection, filled with ponies that have a history! and the messy hair can be cute, as long as it's not gross or knotted XD for example, i left my barnacle's hair in a frizz because it reminds me of how sea salt can dry out your hair ^^

that being said, i don't think i've seen an alt rehair that i've liked enough to buy? that may just be because i prefer doing any restoration work myself though, LOL

I've had a Gypsy with a severe hair cut and I rehaired her in her original color. I got a Skydancer that had a bad haircut but the rest of her was nice; where she's fairly common I thought it'd be fun to rehair in the 2nd wave Rainbow ponies hair colors

For me, I'd rehair something like a Nirvana or rare/expensive pony to its original color. I'd do the same if it is just a forelock trim. However, if it is a more common pony, why not have fun and rehair her however you like?

Also! I'd prefer to buy a common pony with all new hair colors. If it is common I probably already have one with original hair, so I'd be more likely to buy one that looks more unique!
