I was super-thrilled to finally come across a lone set of the "Pony School Pals" packs at Target after haunting every Target for the past week, and I had a chance to take a full photo gallery and write up a review tonight!

You can visit my blog for a larger photo gallery and a more-detailed review, but here's my general thoughts on the group...

Overall: This is all-around the single best boxed set thus far in the whole Friendship is Magic line. You get four canonical ponies outside of the Mane 6, all superbly scaled and authentic to their cartoon appearances, plus a variety of great accessories. This is a fantastic offering of three of the hardest-to-obtain ponies in the line plus an all-new exclusive in Scootaloo. The remolded Apple Bloom and Cheerilee are different enough to be worthwhile for those who already have them, and Scootaloo is cute as a button and highly accurate. If you like the Friendship is Magic cartoon you will want to purchase this set, and you will be pleased beyond belief by it. The “School Pals†gift set earns the highest possible recommendation.

This is one of the few sets for those of us who are more interested in the ponies than the accessories and playsets. It's really good value. I want it!
 
Hooray! I'm so glad that you found it in stores Maxgoof......since I'm in the Albany area too. lol. I'll have to keep my eyes out for it, and point it out to some people....since my birthday is coming up. lol
 
hey, thanks for the review on this set :) I'm really anxious for them to show up here in Nova Scotia. If they're in New York, they're getting closer!! Great photo's, too, by the way ^^

EDIT: one question- you mentioned lots of great accessories with this set? I hadn't noticed any in photos of the box, or in your more detailed review. Any elaboration on those?

I just found then today at Target in MA!! You're right, they are adorable:)
 
Were the "variety of great accessories" you mentioned invisible, by chance? lol Maybe that's why I didn't see them when I bought the set a few weeks ago. Seriously, though, they don't really need accessories, but I wish they had included a bow for Apple Bloom. She doesn't look like herself without it.
 
I have seen this set before, not in my store though, and I thought I would want it, seein how I don't have any of those ponies, but now I know I need it!
 
Excellent review, I just got this set myself a few days ago, and think that it is the best set that Hasbro has released thus far! I dont mind the lack of accessories, especially if it means more ponies!
 
Great pictures! I picked up this set today at Target. They had the train too and I really wanted it but got some Monster High stuff for my kid instead. Maybe next time.

Haha, I need to fix that in the review. I had them sitting next to my surplus of accessories from other ponies, and totally forgot that none of those accessories were theirs! :eek:mg:
