San Diego/Southern California mini-meet? (old)

Hey Pengwen, if you wanted to drop by at 6ish on Aug 3rd, I'd be willing to hang out that long to meetcha! And we might all be there anyway, not sure how long everyone is planning on hanging around! :] Unless you'd rather say hi on Saturday? Whichever's easiest for you.
 
so is there any particular ponies anyone's looking for?? that way if any of us have them, we can bring them?
 
good idea Nova. And talking to you last night made me realize I should probably bring my CC 2011 and 2010 along in case anyone is interested.


I have a ton of G1 commons, some G1 more htf and a ton of G3s. Even a handfull of G2. I'll be bringing as much as I can fit in my car and everyone can rummage around :D


Saturday my roommate Meaghan will be coming with me, but Wednesday I'll be on my own. I can stay as late as needed both days, since I requested them off from work.
 
I'm in the OC so I'm in! Just need to know the day :apple:

Where at the Spectrum are we planning on meeting? We could all meet in the Food Court for lunch maybe, then wander around from there?
 
yeah the spectrum is right, i figured we'd all meet in the parking lot lol... just so no one got lost :p

but whatever work's for everyone.

That sounds like a good plan to me Pengwen! :) I like the idea of the food court - we can all get a bite to eat, get to know one another a bit while the latecomers straggle in, then we'll go to the parking lot for merch sales? Or down to Target to hunt ponies? (The Canterlot set might be out by then!) Does anyone have any other ideas for stuff they want to do?

I should be able to make the Saturday one for sure but I will try to make the Wednesday one too if I can find childcare.

I also joined and RSVPd to the Meetup and reposted on Facebook to more pony friends :)

I would suggest that we all park in one area too (like end of Target parking lot) or somewhere somewhat remote so it will be easy to checkout eachother's pony stash. (I wonder if we'll get a security drive-by...lol) Maybe tie a pony balloon to your car where you want us to park, but then we can meetup at the Food Court (instead of waiting around for late pony people in a parking lot) ... another pony balloon at the food court might be in order ;)

EDIT: Another option is to meet over by the Ferris Wheel... it's easy to find and not far from Target and there are a few snack type shops there if we just want to get drinks before heading to lunch.

yeah that's why i figured the parking lot, so we all parked together... maybe we can all figure out one main spot to park, that way like you said, if there's pony merch, or if people just wanna bring their "neat" ponies they wanted to share... something along those lines :)

and i have no idea where the food court is... so I might need to google a map of the spectrum, as I've only been once, and we ate at CPK and I had no idea there even was a food court, or a target :/
 
That's a good plan too, StrawberryReef! I'm just concerned, do we have any people who might have problems walking long distances? Target and the food court are basically at opposite ends of the mall. (Novavelle, if you can find the movie theater, it's right across from there!) I definitely think Target would have the best parking spaces, for ease of browsing ponies in peoples' trunks!
 
I'm open for any of those two days, I'll ask for it off. Most likely I'll ask for the day when most people can show up. I'll be sure to take some $$$ for any ponies people are taking to sell too. I'll probably take my small bag of G3s if anyone there is interested. :)

Unfortunately I can't make it tomorrow, but I am still planning to come on Saturday!

On Saturday, is the plan to meet in the food court, or the parking lot (and if the latter, which side of the parking lot - it's usually emptiest near Target, though that's a bit of a walk from food), or somewhere else? Should we all carry a pony around to make it easy to spot one another?
 
It definitely happened! Unfortunately, most everyone arrived late. :( Only myself and two bronies made it before 12:15! (I made it at 12:01, LOL, I was buying prizes from Target first!) Another two showed up about an hour late, at 1ish, and we were all in the food court, as planned. :) We were in the food court for hours, in fact! Almost til 3! We had a lot of fun, talking about ponies, watching pony vids, and we even had a trivia game! :D

I'm not sure how crayolabrony missed us - he's not on the meetup group page, so it's possible he never saw any of the info about where we were meeting, or who to contact in case he got lost.

Personally, I think the food court idea worked best - it's not SO huge, so it's not hard to find everypony, and it offers a lot of food options for a variety of dietary and price ranges. However, there's also a cluster of restaurants near Chipotle that are decently priced, and with a wide variety; they are also closer to Target. Would those be preferable to anyone? The only problem is, there's no 'general seating' for everyone to hang out in. :( So they would probably kick us out once we finished eating. Plus, there's limited seating so we'd all have to sit in small clusters, if people wanted different things to eat!

I'll be wearing a pony backpack, but if anyone absolutely gets lost and can't find us, feel free to email me at Jimbopony@gmail.com ! I can check email on my phone, so even if you text me at the email address, I'll get it and be able to tell you where we are! :)
