Season 4 is upon us! Discussion thread time!

I was really hoping it wasn't Pinkie Pie at the end, but I suppose that whole episode was so Benny Hill-esque that throwing a surprise in the end would have just been a bit confusing after all that had happened.

It's so awesome to be getting even more history on Princess Celestia and Luna--I really hope that's a recurring theme throughout this season. That castle was really awesome, too.. I never would have thought it was THAT big. I couldn't help but think as I watched that I would LOVE to explore a place like that myself! :satisfied: I mean how fun would that be?

Rarity really made me laugh this episode, and several times she really reminded me of myself xD Lots of little nuances and great little moments in this episode, very enjoyable!
 
Rarity was a riot! You're a bit like Rarity, huh? I am too, just a bit. Good to see too, that Applejack and Rainbow Dash still have the rivalry. The castle is so awesome! This episode reminded me of playtime as a boy, except I probably wasn't as funny. :p But yeah, exploring and all that would be so cool!

Agreed about the history. This season is on a roll!
 
My siblings and I saw the first two episodes yesterday. Spoiler: I loved the history behind it, especially Celestia defeating Nightmare. However, I think the plot was a little two much like the other beginnings of the other seasons. It just seemed a little too cliche for me. Other than that, it was awesome!

It's my favourite episode now! My favourite part was whenthey showed Pinkie pie recklessly ringing the school bell with her head. Is and always will be my favourite part...

BUT, the episode would make a great april fools day episode since it didn't make sense most of the time!

And I was hoping the mysterious pony would be Luna. I'm a little bit dissapointed, but it was a great episode IMO! :satisfied:

I thought it was Zecora, but dismissed the idea when it started to seem like the organ player knew where the other ponies were and that certain keys on the organ caused things to happen to them. Zecora isn't the type to freak other ponies out intentionally. (Pinkie isn't, either, but she thought they were all just having fun.) After I'd ruled out Z, I gave up guessing and just let it be a surprise.

Once Pinkie was revealed I felt silly for not guessing it was her, since she was the only one of the Mane Six who wasn't in on the Scare Fest otherwise.

"Daring Don't" was at *least* 20% Moar Awesome! They totally surprised me with the adventure plot. I thought for sure that the episode was going to be about the author *hating* fangirls like Dashie. The actual episode though, was brilliant! And it was *so* funny! :LOL:


I really think that FiM is the best cartoon ever. The writing is brilliant, FiM is television at the top of it's form. :)

Daring Do is a real pony! That is so awesome. Does the real Daring Do qualify as 20% cooler than the fictional Daring Do? Guess we'd have to ask Dashie for the official ruling on that one.

And hey, I guess this is where that Daring Pony Story set comes from, huh? I wonder if the Soaring Pegasus set is also a hint...

Just caught up with all the episodes...too much awesome to get through here, but OMG, LOVING this season so much already!!!

Episode 5: Flight to the Finish
I'm glad they touched on Lauren Faust's original idea that Scootaloo would be somehow disabled (in this case, unable to fly). I think especially in a kid's show, it's important to show diversity and differences between characters. The exchange in the beginning between Dash and Ms. Harshwhinny was pretty cute, too.

Episode 6: Power Ponies
I'm honestly not totally sure what I thought of this one! I love comics and superheroes but it felt like an abrupt and awkward transition into the comic-style world. Overall for what they were trying to accomplish, it was cute and entertaining. I liked Pinkie and Rarity's powers the most.

Episode 7: Bats!
So, Flutterbat is one of the cutest things I've seen in a while. Not crazy about the song, but the variations in shading and coloring style was really interesting throughout that sequence. That would have been a really cute Halloween-time episode.

Episode 8: Rarity Takes Manehattan
There were some great names an characters in this episode (Coco Pommel, for one) and it had an interesting message regarding Rarity's element of generosity. I like that despite each of the mane six being so closely associated with their elements, that they have moments when even they struggle with them. And I sense a very strong foreshadowing to all this rainbow business that's showing up on the shelves lol.

Episode 9: Pinkie Apple Pie
This was one of my favorites so far this season, probably because I've had that song stuck in my head ever since it was previewed at comic con. I also just love Granny Smith and Big Mac, and I was happy to see so much of them. The whole journey to Goldie Delicious's cabin was funny and well-done, the way the wagon started as 'the jalopy' and then transformed into a boat.. then a sled.. Lots of little visual punchlines that made it very enjoyable. It's also nice that they didn't confirm one way or another whether Pinkie is an Apple or not, rather it's just left open-ended, but maintains the sentiment that family isn't always just who you're born with, it's who you choose. :)

That is so cool! Wow....What...if....they bring more back in next few episodes? Okay, I'm going to rewatch every episode and stare at the background ponies.
 
I find it more surprising that nobody noticed PegaFizzy cheering for the Cloudsdale team. (image in attachment) :rollingeyes:

Can someone tell me what the muscly white pegasus' name is? Rainbow Dash said it twice and I couldn't make out the first part. And I missed the last part because I kept getting interrupted during the episode. I'll have to check and see if it's on the DVR.
