Shipping Quote, Overpriced or right?? Oh, The Nerve!!!!!!!!!

Well I recently had to insure a package to canada that would have only cost the lady $8 or so for air mail letter post, but in order to insure something going international, they made me upgrade to air mail parcel post for $16 plus the $1.30 for insurance, so I think that $15 is possible. Granted I don't know what canada's international insurance policies are,(not to sound harsh here) but since she didn't state a shipping price in her auction, you should have asked what it was going to cost before buying it :|

Yeah, I think all the great people here make me too trusting! I know no-one here would try and rip me off with shipping!

I shoulda asked, but I found the auction last minuteish and to be honest I really thought it was insurance if you wanted, thats how I read it. Anyhow, lesson learnt I guess, I'll just stay away from her in the future!

Have you paid for the baby yet?

Not just yet, I will shortly, figured I'd make her wait a few more hours!

I bet you anything she'll be one of those people to also bug you about feedback, then not leave you any until you do first!

Well, best I can say is "buyer beware" and that is for more than just the item these days. So many people jack the price of shipping up so high, it's beyond belief! I felt bad adding an extra $.75 to one of the packages I had up, that had the postal calculator on it since I didn't want to guess how much it would be to ship!

Another seller I won about 8 ponies from, claimed combined shipping and when she sent my invoice it was for 20.00 for shipping. When I said something about it she knocked off 2.00 and said the auction stated it was 1.50 per item, which it didn't. And that by knocking off the 2.00 it meant she couldn't afford to wrap them individually so they would just be thrown in a box *rme*

OK, this is just totally ridiculous! 8 ponies for me to send would be about $7, and that is wrapped each in their own baggie, and in a box with some sort of padding! Sure, things won't be 100% unused, but please!!! A box of sandwich bags (which I usually use for wrapping ponies) is about $1.99 for 100. Is she saying the $2 she knocked off won't cover the $.16 for baggies? I would have seriously told her this was the LAST time I'd be buying anything from her, because I won't pay for her kids' college!

And the really sad part? Ebay doesn't care about bidders, because they don't pay fees! Do you honestly think they will crack down on sellers for that kind of thing? No...they have too much other stuff to do. So, it's up to us to make sure we look at auctions enough in advance to ask about shipping  . That's why I much rather just leave things posted here, I guess. Although I do need to get some up on Yahoo...freeeee is sounding better every time!!

Not sure about Canada post. But I just checked USPS, and gave it a weight of 6 oz (so it would go for this in a small box even)...It came up with $4.80 airmail letter, and $16.00 air parcel. For me to insure a package from the US to elsewhere, it has to go air parcel. (unless you use global priority, which is super high) So, it is possible, if Canadian post works like the USPS. *shrugs*

So, next question, how do I prove to her she is overcharging? I want the pony, but I cant stand being ripped off with postage
I suppose you could take a similar pose baby pony to a groccery store where they have fruit and vegetable scales and put the pony in there and take a picture of it to show how much she weighs, (those scales are pretty sensitive) and go to your equvilant of usps.com (us postal service) and punch in the numbers and kindly show her that way. If all else fails, print up the invoice to show the time it was sent, and when the package arrives, photograph the postage sticker and if they dont match, leave her a negative. I leave people neutrals or negs if they overcharge me on shipping. Since she's being a butt, leave her a neg if she over charges you. It may be 'mean' but shes not being quite so nice either. Dont bite first, but bite back, ya know?

What Wysteria said is true. I asked for something to be insured that I was shipping to the UK and it was crazy expensive. Without insurance it was much, much lower. So it's hard to say :?: Good luck with it though. 8)

She took her description from Lavonia's mylittlepony collector site. Go look at the pearly ponies. She used the exact words including the "pearlized" vs. "pearlised".
So can't she get in trouble for doing this?

...

if you want I'd be happy to have it shipped to me in Ontario and I can send it on to you. But I think the last pony i got from her she charged me something like $8us to ship to here and it would cost me around $7 CND plus gst (I think) to ship there. I think she ships in boxes only which will add to the higher cost.

goodluck! $15 is outrageous but expected from her. If you do go ahead when you leave feedback mention the high handling charges in it so other ppl are warned.

Insurance is included. She's taking you for a ride. Even if you have it sent to someone in Canada, it will cost alot. It costs the same (if not more) for me to send that Pony to my friend down the street as it would to send it to you. A pathetic postal service us Canadians have.

If you do pay, don't forget the negative at the end.

Ok, I just asked her about shipping to the US for Scribbles and said how I've wanted her for such a long time but was never able to afford her high starting price and hope my paycheck would let buy this one, and she's writes me back

you have to pay for it. you told me the money was on the way . why would you string me along.

What the..? I just wrote her back and told her to read her messages more carefully cause I haven't bought diddly from her, and after this, I probably won't

*edit* I also meant to say, I totally know what you mean about last minute bidding;)

.

Sky Rocket's information is correct, and even in a small corrugated cardboard box with bubble wrap and a ziploc baggie, a baby pony will not exceed 250 grams. The only problem with shipping Small Packets International is that you can't get any kind of delivery confirmation so if the seller is worried about Seller Protection through Paypal that might explain the higher cost.

Edit: The only options I can see with Delivery Confirmation are about $45-50 so obviously that is not the shipping method she's using. By my math, she is charging you $9 US for handling fees above and beyond the $6 US equivalent in actual shipping/insurance. (Or a 250% inflation.)

People can just be ridiculous. No way does packaging/handling cost that much. I'd definately neg her.

My dear, she's out to lunch.

How do i know? i lived in canada, and i move to europe and i shipped my things to europe with canada post cos it ws cheaper than putting it on the plane.

i don't know how expensive your item was but mine was insured for $500 and it cost 150 bux to ship. wannaknow how much of that was shipping? 5 DOLLARS, CANADIAN DOLLARS!

Canada post charges you ONE canadian dollar for every Hundred dollars you would like to ensure something for.

there is no way one baby pony unless you would like to insure it for $1400 cdn would cost that much, unless she's sending it in a box, or with over night express post.
