One thing I'm fascinated with in the pony world is restorations... in my collection, I do have a few baity ponies (my theory is that baity ponies were well loved!). But I'm interested in learning how to make them pretty again...

So I'm interested in seeing any restorations you've done! There were some awesome ones in the variant restoration competition a few months ago... but if anyone has any others I would really really love to see.

Argh I haven't taken any WIP pics of my restorations for ages but I have a few older ones that some people may not have seen -

I love making ponies pretty again :allecto:

Wow, you guys do amazing work! Are all those markings coming out with sun-fading?? I really need to try that, I have some girls that could really use some love lol I'll look and see if I can find my resto pics :)

same here, I have a few ponies that need some sun fading but i've never tried it!

Sky Lark's marks came off with acetone - I think they were very old nail polish stains.

Both Wave Runner and Baby CJ had a few courses of acne cream applied over a couple of weeks. I then left Baby CJ for another few weeks and she was perfect. Wave Runer then got sunfaded to finish her off. I know the ance cream can be risky but WR I rescued from a bait sale and both were so bad the risk was well worth it :D

Hey Princess locket, do you use acne cream like clearasil? I was a bit confused about that, because I know remove zit is not actually acne cream so I wasn't ever sure if that would work??

I love seeing these before and after. Amazing! Gives me hope for some of mine.

Wow! I can't believe it! What talent! Looking beauty!

I use Oxy5 acne cream and I get the skin toned one so I can see easily where I'm putting it so it only goes over the ink stains. From memory I went for that one because it had a higher percentage of Benzoyl peroxide which I *think* is the ingedient that fades :D If you use it you do have to be careful because it can fade ponies body too so only pop it over the marks (I used a toothpick to put it in the dents in wave runners wings) check it regularly, it's better to wash it off thoroughly and apply another coat than leave it on too long . . . for small marks etc I'd go for the patient way and try sunfading first and the same for super valuable ponies or blue ponies.

I've never used remove zit but seen some fabulous results with that too!

just wanted to say WOW! theres some amazing resrto work from ponies i would ahve honestly writen off myself! just shows what a little (or lot) of TLC can do!

Definately go the sundfading for blue ponies unless you want to take a risk with say a baity looking Coco Berry and see how it works. I wouldn't ever try acne cream on Nightlight!

I'm not sure what it is with the blue colouring but it doesn't react well with acne cream . . . you can't cause too much damage with a white pony (best colour to practice on!) and other colours just be very careful and remove it sooner rather than later :)

so there's nothing else we can do for blue ponies? And what about dreaded pony cancer, does anything actually work on that at all??

I have a 4-Speed that I received in a bait lot and he is covered in felt pen or vivid. I have tried acetone but it only took a smidgen off. If I sun faded him or tried acne cream would the blue of him fade too?
Sorry he was my first boy pony baity as he is and I would love to restore him to his former glory, all he's doing now is helping for custom boy molds!
Thanks, Claire

You know, it would be really cool to have a forum on here dedicated to restorations with tips and tricks and advice - so it's all in the one place. Is there a group?
