People who put shipping at like $50 on ebay, for two ponies....REALLY? Why not just ask the price you want for it, instead of trying to sneak it in there. Okay, I'm done, just saw that and was ticked at the nerve of some people.

well as far as im concerned ebay should be named evil bay sometimes. I never use ebay nor do i ever consider using it. I would rather to go places like this.

When I first saw those I was annoyed at the sneakiness. Then I decided I was more annoyed by ebay and stopped being annoyed by people circumventing fees.

You can rate sellers 1 star for shipping charges like that, and if they get too many people complaining about their shipping prices, ebay will hold their Paypal funds until they start shipping faster and better. I guess it doesn't make them change their prices, but... it gets annoying. I try to never overcharge when I sell on eBay and I still got a low rating for my shipping prices. Not everything can ship for free - but I am TOTALLY with you on the trying to make money off shipping and not off the item itself... it's downright WRONG!

Make sure you check ALL information before buying from someone! :gonnagetit: And discourage people with stupid prices by not buying with them!

Actually, Ebay has started charging final value fees for shipping, so sellers aren't really getting away with anything by trying to put insanely high shipping costs. Except maybe the chance that someone will forget to check the shipping cost before they bid... shady.

Yep thats right..so won't be long before they realize they paid a hefty fee to be dishonest.. Plus all of the complaints..only a matter of time before paypal will hold their funds and problems will occur.

No way! Well, it's about time they did something about that!

sounds like another reason i will never go the ebay route for any reason.

That's going to severely limit your pony-buying options. Just read all the terms in an auction and never bid until you know the shipping cost.

I know, right? There's a pretty common G1 that I want to bid on, she starts at $2.99 but her shipping is $7! And that's within the US. I think I'll just wait for another one to come along. Even though it's not that much, it's the principle.

Alot of sellers will price them low and bump up shipping. Its a really cheap trick.

I stay away from any seller who seems surly, crotchety, angry, grumpy. They tend to be the ones who say "vintage pony- great" with a fuzzy picture and then post a disclaimer "may have smells, rust, marks, chews, tears, cuts and frizz as is, no refunds, don't ask" Um. gee. thanks. I'm saying it doesn't fill me with any confidence. Some people who do that, do it for a reason. Usually smells I've found. They know their items carry smoke smell, or VERY potent pet smells, and won't mention it (price would bomb) but claim it's included in the disclaimer.

You just have to be careful who you buy from. If you have a smaller budget, all the more careful. I didn't bid on items I wanted when the listing/feedback made it obvious that the seller is less then pleasant to deal with. Or if it's clear they are massively padding their profit with shipping.

Being in Canada, I was overcharged shipping all the time. Until those stars came in. It seems every time I check my e-mail I get paypal notifications I was refunded $4-$6 with "shipping was way less then thought!". They can be abused so easily by people leaving feedback, but I find I enjoy ebay so much more now that for the most part I pay correct shipping. :)

$50 for 2 ponies?! Wow, are they gonna fly the ponies to ya themselves & do a lil dance when ya open the door? For that kinda cash, I would expect some singing of the theme song when I open the door, too.

I have a love/hate w/eBay. I love it, cause I can get alotta ponies @ once in "lots", but I dislike it over the fear, "Will it be what I saw in the photos?"

Recently it seems like more & more, I'm receiving items that are flat out damaged & not mentioned...it's heartbreaking. You look forward to an item for a week or whatever, then it arrives...broken or not as described. Boo, eBay - I wish they could clean up things like that.

I have a love/hate relationship with eBay, too. I did a little selling on it but finally dropped away from that. The fees are crazy and sometimes the shipping can be a pain to figure out. I've always believed in charging the real cost. Of course it can be difficult to show real cost when you don't know who will win the auction. I like that eBay sort of figures out the costs when you put the package weight and size in, but sometimes it doesn't get it right.

As a buyer, yeah, there's a bit of tension there, too. Luckily most of the time things turn out well, but I once won a giant lot and when I got the box I found that they had just dumped everything in at random! Some of the items were crushed in the bottom and it was a nightmare untangling ponies and trying to account for all the small, loose accessories. It was the only time I did not give positive feedback to someone. :(

On the flip side, there are some honest sellers out there. I have actually been refunded shipping several times when a seller discovered I was overcharged.
