Thanks @chii and @Skybreeze for your tips! I think I'll try the baking soda in a coffee filter and the pony in a bag.
But you might be right Skybreeze, if that still doesn't work I will probably need to remove his head nevertheless. Yesterday evening I tried to apply some vinegar onto his body and hair with a sponge and let him sit for an hour or so. I then washed him again with soap and I thought he smelled a bit better, but this morning I can smell the cigarette smell again. I'm very sensitive to this smell, I hate it so much, as both my parents were smokers, but I grew up with my grandparents, so I was only exposed to their cigarette fumes when I visited them and I've always hated it. So the funny thing was, this morning I held him under my boyfriend's nose and he says well, he smells of vinegar a little, which is odd, as I can't smell the vinegar, just the stale cigarette stench.
