I had to share this with people who might understand my concerns.

Yesterday, someone posted a pony on a FB group that has been my most wanted for many years.

It’s a MIB roller skating pony, Hip Hop. I messaged the person asking their price and they messaged back saying they weren’t sure on price. They messaged back a couple hours later with a price and I agreed to pay $125 shipped. I paid through PayPal goods and services.

Here’s the part I have concerns about. Prior to paying, I looked for the post again, but couldn’t find in on any of my FB groups. I asked the seller to send me a photo and remind me which group it had been posted in. They only sent the photo.

I’m a bit worried that this person could be a potential scammer as I couldn’t find their post or name on any of the groups.

This person had recently joined the group (wish I could remember which one!) and stated the were selling as they needed some money quickly. I hope this is not a scam and that I receive the pony without a hitch. I feel it was worth taking the chance given my extreme desire for this pony.

I know I’m covered through PayPal, but I’d rather not have to go through the hassle. I just spent 45 min on the phone with PayPal this morning dealing with an account issue. Here’s hoping.

Any thoughts?
 
Fingers crossed it's going to be fine. I never find posts again unless I save them in my saves. It's a gamble on there sometimes. Do you have their name from PayPal you can search for?

I think there should be a way to see the email you sent the money too, if you want to contact them that way? Im not sure how FB works but its possible they just took the post down since you bought it. I hope it works out :eek:

The post was taken down before I bought. I have their email address and they have communicated just fine with me so far.

It’s probably ok, but I’m weary of new people posting hard to find ponies at reasonable prices and then finding no trace of the person on the group before the sale was even completed. It’s just a bit odd. Here’s hoping.

I wish you all the luck friend! If you don’t get a tracking number, please open a PayPal case. I’m not normally one to jump the gun, but scams and scammers seem to have quadrupled since 2019. <pony hugs>

Yes, I have their FB name and I checked all of my groups. That’s why it was odd. I usually save posts for the same reason.

I know. I’m not the paranoid type, and I give the benefit of the doubt, but so many people trying to scam

you can say that again. gotten scammed twice ever since i started collecting ponies in late 2021 :/ once for G3 Shenanigans study set, and later for the G3 byebye boo-boo pack. lessons learned to never trust amazon or a random site from someone i havent seen on forums for pony stuff. my gut told me they were shady yet i still bought. i need to listen to my instincts more lol

That’s awful. I’m pretty careful and i always use PayPal G&S, just in case. I suspected this might be a scam, so I’ve been keeping an eye out on the groups.

I messaged the seller and asked for an explanation. She responded right away and said it was a misunderstanding and she will not sell to the other person. I guess we’ll see if it shows up. Fingers crossed. I really want her.

Im sorry its so nerve wracking! D: i hope she shows up! I would definitely demand a tracking number when shipped

I sent both mods a message as soon as it happened. I also messaged the other person who has paid some money (I think it was a partial payment)

Last I heard from the seller, she was sending it to me. If I don’t have a tracking number by tomorrow, I might notify PayPal.
