The Great Pony Project

Sent back my first storage box of ponies back to my friend. Probably to sit in storage for another 20-30 years. Which saddens me. But at least I did my best for the poor things.

Every pony was cleaned and hair shampooed and conditioned. Some were restyled to help the hair stay nicer longer. Every pony that had a tail bow when they came in, wore it going out. I got pro and tying tail bows.

Each pony was then set out on the shelf for at least two weeks before going into loose plastic baggies. Ponies were packed into the box with bags of accessories on the bottom, adult ponies next and then baby ponies on top. So hopefully no one will get squished while in storage. On to the next box!

And here are more ponies! Behold, all the birth flower ponies in their glory! Plus Heart Throb and Fifi. Fifi was actually covered in MUD when I dug her out of the box. My friend claims she has no idea how she got in such condition. But it did wonders for that girl's complextion. She is far whiter than any of the birthflower ponies.

Pony total: 91

I'd be interested in seeing that :)

You're doing a great job so far, keep up the good work!

These are the last of them and I haven't be honest, I'm a bit exhausted. I'm eager to have my shelf space back. I'm tired of having all my shelf space stolen by ponies. Most of them were so disgusting. I had to clean mud out of so softs. Poor Tex had his tail melted solid in some parts. He had to get a trim whether he liked it or not. And combing dead bugs out of a perfume puff pony is not pleasant. But I'm finished and I am happy to get them bagged and get them out of my apartment! LOL

Final Pony Count: 109

That doesn't even include all the ponies that I own that I cleaned. I am good and done. Not cleaning ponies for a while. :)

How did you comb out the Perfume Puff's hair? I'm eyeballing one on ebay at the moment and the hair is a disaster.

Wow you are a good friend! What an amazing job you did!

Resurrecting this threat because my friend found ANOTHER box of ponies for me to clean... yay? To be honest, it was not something I was as passionate about doing as before. But since I did it the first time, I figured might as well finish what I started.

Here's how they came to me. They were just as dirty and disgusting as the other ones. As I have said before NEVER store your ponies with the pony wear. It definitely damages them. The ponies that had the pony wear were usually the only ones that really had any damage despite how dirty these ponies are.

I have already got right into cleaning so here's the first group. My Tootsie is totally photo bombing lol. She's one of mine, not part of the group. But now counting these ponies, I have now cleaned 119 ponies, plus 3 bushwoolies and a duck.

What an exciting project! I'll stay tuned for updates!!

Wow. You're a true champion of pony cleaning. :D

Thank you for sharing this!

Wow, you are such an amazing friend. To do that and not even get a pony in return is truly generous. I can't wait to see how this goes. Good luck!

As someone who loves cleaning ponies, all I can say is LUCKY ;) You must be a pony restoring pro by now!

The perfume puff that was in the picture was in horrible condition. She had mud and branched and dead bugs in her hair.

You pretty much clean the hair the same way as you do normal pony hair. Get out the shampoo and conditioner. Let the pony sit with conditioner for a good several minutes. Then, with the conditioner still in her hair, get a wide toothed comb. Pony combs work really well. Then, just gentle brushing and a lot of patience will eventually clean the hair out.

In regards to rainbow ponies getting those near-cutie mark smudges, do you have any idea why this is caused, to be something that's so common? My best friend has been wondering at all sorts to the happenings of her Parasol!

I believe a lot of it has to do with the glitter paint Hasbro used for the cutie marks. It just wasn't very good for the plastic. Alas, there is not much that can be done about that. The best you can do is keep your pony clean and dry and hope for the best.

Alrightie, NOW is the last of the ponies.

First, here's all the accessories caked in filth I bathed. Not pictured is the pony wear which I shook out and then used artist tape to remove all the massive dust bunnies. Some of the pony wear was chewed on by mice. That's how bad it was.

Last of the ponies. Had to clean more of the dreaded so softs. Some of them weren't that dirty. Just use some tape like a lint roller and the flocking is good. Buttons, however, was so dirty you couldn't even see her cutie mark. I was wondering if she had one. But I ran her whole body under the faucet and slowly rubbed with my thumb. It was like a solid sheet of dirt just running off. So gross. But underneath was a perfect pony. Everyone is nice and clean now.

Fluttershy is obviously not part of that group. lol

That brings my pony total to: 141

All cleaned and ready to be put back into storage. But this time, properly stored so no dust, mud or rodents.
