I know a lot about unicorns (not trying to brag, BTW) and I just want to let everyone know that during my unicorn studies, I learned that a unicons horn is called an Alicorn, because saying 'unicorn horn' is kind of a mouthful. I noticed that unipegs, or pegacorns, or unises are called Alicorns a lot. Why do people call them that? (I'm NOT trying to sound like I know everything, I'm just curious about why unipegs are called that a lot.)

::shrugs:: The first time I ever heard the word "alicorn" was in a fantasy book where they were certainly NOT typical unicorns. They were violent, unicorn-like animals with fangs and a penchant for eating prey they caught and killed themselves. They may have had claws. I don't particularly like the word, so I never use it.

"Elven Blood," I think. Mercedes Lackey and Andre Norton. I have it, but I'm FAR too lazy to go downstairs and skim it to see if I remember correctly, lol! ;)

to each their own i think..

I like the name alicorn for a pegasus/unicorn. It sounds very pretty. Pegacorn sounds a bit odd to me. XDD
