Do you have an accent? Do you notice your own when your in a different place? Are you attracted to certain accents?

I don't think I have an accent, mine seems flat and without inflections, some people in the world think we Californians still sound like valley girls, I dunno why. I assure you I only talk that way to annoy people. LOL

I once talked to a British guy and I mentioned how much I like their accents. He thought I had an accent.

I like
English-I like many English accents, not just posh and smooth
Irish-musical
New York/Bronx-I blame 80s cartoons for using East Coast accents, they make me go oo la la!
Cajun-I blame Gambit. His accent just makes him even more pounceable
Japanese-its soft and pretty.
Jamaican-musical and smooth
Native American accents-idk what it is, but its soft and soothing to mine ears.

Because of my mother and several of my not so nice relatives, I'm not too crazy about Filipino accents. The way some of my older family speaks always sounds sharp, fast and condescending to me and I am embarrassed to say it, but I tried to work very hard when I was younger to get rid of any trace of that accent I picked up from my mother. I'm more okay with it now.

I have a Canadian accent I guess, I do say "car" funny I say it like "cear" but I noticed the guy who hosts Canada's Worst Driver says it the same way

That's interesting. I've never heard a Canadian say car like cear. Though to be honest I don't know any Canadians IP.

I live in Alabama and I am told I have a southern drawl. I can mimic the Old southern speech(think gone with the wind) if I want but its just uncomfortable to do for long.

I love Irish and Scottish accents so much.
British accents are so proper but I love them Huge British comedy fan.
I like African accent from area like cape town and southern Africa I knew a lady that work in the mall near my old house her speech was just lovely.
Australian accents just make me smile. RIP Crocodile Hunter

I had real trouble being understood when I went to the States being understood because of my kiwi accent. I found if I rolled my RRRR's a bit like I came from Gore you all could at least get the gist of what I was on about. There were these two cliche old guys in flannel shirts & John Deere hats on a bench in the shade outside a thought we were crazy because we chased a squirrel through the car park somewhere in the sticks between Las Vegas & California ...... but that's another story.

I LOVE foreign accents

I've been told I have a strong Canadian accent before but I've never noticed it myself.

On a slightly unrelated note, when I speak language other than English I can tell I have a strong English accent and it drives me crazy! Especially in Chinese. Somehow my brother managed to pick up a nice Beijing accent though. How unfair! :p

When I speak English I sound like this LOL :D Very cute accent right ;D

(well I hope I'm little bit better really... but not ;D)

I love Australian accent^^

And Brittish accent is nice if it is the "proper one". The oter accent that the young ones are speaking sounds ridicilous (sorry :3)

I am not sure. When I became a teacher and had to learn to speak properly I lost some of my Texas accent as well as, slang. We couldn't use them in the classroom. When I went to Canada though, everyone wanted to know where I was from. So, I guess I must have some accent. When I was a child I had a very strong Southern, Texas accent. I will have to ask my friend that lives in Sweden that has heard me talk if she thinks I have an accent.

Oh dude, I love accents! :) Actually Portugal is pretty rich in that regard despite being so small, right off the top of my head I can think of at least 5 clearly distinct accents in European Portuguese, i.e. not counting Brazil and the rest of the Portuguese diaspora. Let's see:

Oporto/northern region
Beiras (Alta and Baixa)
Lisbon and surrounding area
Alentejo
Algarve
Madeira
Azores

Aaand I'm pretty sure there's more. :p

As for me, I speak pretty much what is considered the "standard" accent, that of the Coimbra region. Which is odd, because I'm not from there, and neither are my parents. My maternal grandma does speak with her village's accent, and it frustrates me that I can't emulate it to save my life. Scratch that, I'm terrible at accents, period. Both in Portuguese and English. I can do "mock" accents (i.e. mishmashes of elements from various accents) fine, in fact I do one for a character in one of my brother's projects, but actual, accurate accents? Nope. :/

...Okay, I can do a Scottish accent after watching Brave. No, really. Too bad it fades by the next day. :(

Speaking of which, I don't know if I have an accent while speaking English. I learned the language through animated shows and movies, so I wouldn't be surprised if I sound a wee bit Californian with the occasional Portuguese-ish slip in between. Or maybe I sound like none of those things and I'm just off my rocker.
Hm, actually, here's the last episode of my brother's aforementioned project. Besides a cameo at the end, we're the only voices in the whole video, so you can see for yourself whether we have discernible accents or not. :p

(English) Accents that I like... Hmm.
SCOTTISH. I LOVE it to bits. I like the Irish one too, though I tend to confuse them a lot on the surface, which is annoying.
Standard, Queen's English British is also way up there. And Cockney is adorable in a kid's voice.
German, for whatever reason.
Hindi. Equal parts interesting and funny.
Goofy's hillbillyesque drawl, don't know its actual place of origin. :p
Southern U.S. /Texas
Cajun, gotta thank Jim Cummings for that.
Whatever it is that Boris and Natasha speak in Rocky and Bullwinkle, I think it's mock Russian? I always chuckle whenever they have to "keel moose and squirrel". :D
I might sound weird but I actually like the Valley Girl accent. :p I wish to one day make a Valley Girl-sounding character who's actually a brainiac.

Ya know......I don't think of myself as having an accent....and those I talk to everyday don't notice (obviously).....but if I talk to someone on the phone or someone I haven't met before...(introduce myself or start a short conversation)
they ALWAYS ask where I am from, because of my accent. lol. (they normally say I sound like someone they knew from "back home"- country, but they cant quite figure it out.) I dunno, when people ask, and then try to GUESS first .....it always cracks me up! I was born an raised in Southern CA...and moved to southern AZ partway through highschool.....and now have raised my own family here.

I love other accents however......I find them fascinating to listen to, when people talk.:)

I'm from the midwest, so I have what can be considered a pretty standard American accent, with a little bit of lisping.
But my dad grew up in New York, so I've got a tiny bit of his accent. Whenever we visit his family, I pick up a New York accent and it can take a few weeks to go away.

I've got an English accent, I'm not 'posh' as such, but my friends say I am because they don't pronounce 't's' or 'h's', something quite common for people my age, especially where I live! My mum doesn't like me saying things such as 'ain't' or 'we was going', so I got corrected a lot as a kid. I guess that's why I sound quite different from my friends.
I love other people's accents, no matter where they are from, I find it interesting how different people speak differently. I especially like Irish accents and Scottish ones, but I'm not in the minority if I say that xD
If I talk to someone with a different accent, I like to guess where they're from. I'm not very good at it.
