We have done all our preparations and now for some pictures. The rain has started. It comes in waves which is typical before the downpour begins. If it starts getting windy it will make me very nervous. We had trees fall on the house once and it was hard on me emotionally to be in the house at the time. That was a hurricane though. We are expecting wind just not as strong thank goodness. With all the rain though the ground isn't holding the roots tightly. This baby is my concern. This pine is in front of my house. There are several really tall pines in my yard. We lost like 4 during IKE. 2 of which fell on the house and one across the neighbors yard and one on my neighbor's garage.

Kick Mr Bill soundly in his manly bits. BAD STORM! BAD!

Seriously, be super careful! I need you to live!

I think I will be living lol. I am going to have to take the dog out at 3am. Joy of all joys.

She does her business at 3? Or do you have the earliest earlybird vet ever?

Someone should totally arrest these hurricanes and SUE THEM for damages

There is a saying though, that weather doesn't listen to criticism x.x

Hopefully it doesn't form into anything too destructive this time, here's to hoping x.x

Just saw we're under a flood warning until Thursday. I guess it's time to grow some gills.

Maki won't go out in heavy rain. The news said it would be bad around rush hour. Thats usually what time I normally take him out. Like 6-7 am. So, if I take him out at 4am we avoid that heavy rain and his legs won't be twisting trying to hold it until noon or a rain break (ha ha). Plus, out backyard floods really bad and there is no place for him to go potty at that point anyway. He is 10 so, I am trying to make things easier for him. I got up at 4:30 and took him out, but I just found out there is a delay lol. So, I could have slept in. it is raining pretty heavy now. Oh well.
@evilbunnyfoofoo better get those chickens in floaties...my water meter cover has floated away.

Yikes... stay safe and (hopefully) dry!

Hurricanes and tropical storms are just not fun at all. When I lived in Virginia we used to get smacked with them, and while it made for some interesting memories, it was unnverving!

Yes they are a bit anxiety provoking because, they are unpredictable and you never know what might happen. The worst hurricane I ever went through was a cat 3. I have never seen anything worse yet and hope I never do. My area would be wiped out with a cat 4. We would have to evacuate for sure then. Tropical storms just cause so much flooding or winds that cause things to fall on the roof (bang boom bang) and employers expect you to work, but many people will not be able to get home today. To me, that's just wrong to do to an employee. Unless you are medical..city disaster aid workers..911...police or emergency response, you should be allowed to stay home. At least they closed down all the school districts and summer camp programs to keep the kids safe today.

Things are not too bad here. I am so relieved. We still have the night to go and that is always hard when you can't see it coming. LOL I think its going to be okay though.

For us the rising waters of the Red River are a real threat. In earlier floods, the river was low, right now it's pretty high, because they opened the spillways at Lake Texoma. We'll see. Whatever happens, we'll stick together and I think we'll be okay.

I don't think asking employees to risk life and limb to come to work in bad weather is fair either. Most businesses could shutter their doors for a few days with no ill effects. It isn't worth someone's life to keep a business open. I understand that some things are essential, like the hospitals, police, rescue workers, but I bet they'd like people to stay home as well! It makes THEIR jobs easier!

Stay safe you guys

We've gotten three inches of rain today with no end in sight! What da heck is up with the weather? It's crazy! My area rarely has rain in May through August and this year we're flooding we have so much!

I am not sure, but I noticed this year Texas was in a really strange weather pattern. You are right it is usually pretty dry at this time of year. I always hate that because, I have to water the lawn and don't like wasting water on grass. This time, I have not had to do any watering, but its almost too much water and that kills the grass too. I like it when the rain makes it cooler and I save on electricity. I dislike summer so much so, its hard to get through June, July and August. Ugg it just drags on and on and on.

We ended up getting 7 inches of rain yesterday! Sometimes that's more than we'd get in months! Ugh. I'm done, I swear. The rain has ruined the grass here too, tula. So my pastures are just swamps full of whatever weeds can grow in a rice paddy. I'm having to buy hay at a time I should have plenty of grazing. And the animals are so sick of being trapped in their houses and shelters. The dogs howled all day yesterday, like a tiny Greek chorus.
