UK Ponycon - What happened

Firstly a huge thanks to everyone that turned up for the event. I honestly believe it was the best one yet and that is saying something because the 2005 one was really awesome. Unfortuantly Hasbro couldn't make it, however our charity the rainbow center manged to come and judged some of the contests we ran. The committee were able to hand over a cheque for about £1750 to the charity at the end of the day, just from the sale of our exclsuive ponies. However the total combined with the contests and tickets sales is yet to be counted up.

The con featured on BBC news and included Dusky singing the My Little Pony theme tune while dressed in her beautiful outfit of Ponycon's exclsuive pony, Pinkie Pie Celebration. There were all sorts of prizes given out, unfortunatly i can't remmeber who won what lol (i do know the 1st place of the best stall though lol...that was me *big grin*) Lots of people showed up in fancy dress and i'm sure the judges had a hard time picking a winner. However it had to go to Dusky for her amazing quad suit pony.

Our auction has yet to be totalled up but i think current guesses are about the £600 mark. However i will update with a total as soon as i have one ^_^ The mountain boy and twinkle eye raffles were both drawn on the day. The full set of mountain boys went to babycottoncandy and the twinkle eyes went to Beachball so a major congrats to both of those. There were lots of people drooling over those all day lol. The phot quest winners were babycottoncandy again for her stunning picture collection and Lady amalthea's picture for the quest, 'Great outdoors'. All the entrants wiil feature on our website though as soon as i sort them out lol.

Again a huge thanks to everyone that was able to show up and to the rest of the committee for all their hard work :D Pictures and videos will be coming soon ^_^ I will update once we have the total. Any questions about the day just let me know lol :D

Who won the second prize in the mt boy drawing??
 
I have been racking my brains but i honestly can't remember. When it was drawn and babycottoncandy came first i was sort of preoccupied watching her shocked expression lol ^_~

I won 3rd prize in the best stall competition and i was gobsmacked - looking back at my pictures i feel very proud of my stall and was glad i had taken time to plan it and arrange it in advance, as in 2006 i had been ill and only decided to come along on the morning, so I just threw stuff in a suitcase, then dumped it on the stall when I got there. This year I wanted to do it differently.

There were so many lovely people there and great stalls - and I had a ball - I can't thank the organisers enough for everything they did.

Bring on next year! (in the midland perhaps?)
 
Boy you Ukers have it all worked out don't you? Every year I hear all these stories about this thing from various people in the UK and it's always great to hear about it. The only problem is then I get big ideas about saving up and flying out there just so I can actually go. Very big idea that is given the price of plane tickets to the UK! :mrgreen:

And thanks to those who chatted to my boyfriend "masterofapath" and friend "lemming_man" (the guy with the lolcat-style homedesigned dragony t-shirt) - I think they enjoyed it more than they imagined they would, and were discussinf custom-making a lot of the afternoon.

i am on LJ, i have neglected it a little recently though! i am MyLittleCustoms :D

This years convention was AWESOME! I only managed to be there for a couple of hours but it was so much fun!

You guys have to look at some of the pictures of the "destroy a fakie" competition, the entries were pure genius! A lot of frustated pony widows entered that one ... LOL

I'd like to thank both of them for chatting to me and keeping an eye on the stall when I wandered off to look around or answer nature's call! It was lovely to meet them and see you and their banter (and his t-shirt!) made me laugh very much.

I am glad they enjoyed it and hope they will come again!
 
Well done Helen! Well done Claire! I didn't go this year (I have been a bit pre occupied with my dolls) It looks like you all had an excellent time.
