Hi everyone!

As some of you may have been following in this thread:

http://www.mlptp.net/forums/trader-...t-aussie-plushes-amazing-update-feb-21-a.html

I've finally gotten ahold of my giant Aussie plushes. Well, Princess Pinkstar has them, but 2 of the 3 are destined for the USA!

These plushes are huge.. they're as big as Frilly Frocks. And heavy.

The problem Pinky and I have now is that we aren't sure how to get them to the USA. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this that they could share?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Jewel. :) Glad to see you're getting your plushies. I bet they're awesome!

I think I remember when the huge plush first came out, seeing a site where they had snipped the stitches out from the pony's stomach and gutting out as much stuffing as possible, so there's just a soft pony skin. Fiberfil's pretty cheap after all. :) I'm not sure how much you could get out of say, the head or feet though. It should work. Otherwise... uh, an airline ticket? :p

Oh wow, that is big!! Maybe you can unstuff them?? but it might cost a bit on restuffing it.. Or maybe you can get them shipped, each of them have their own package box? Im not sure.. i dont really have any experience ^_^;

Wow...good question. I bought a new in box G1 UK trickles pajama case (which are also on the bigger side, especially with their box) a couple months ago from the UK, and the seller just put it in a big box but it was expensive- like $50. Ouch!!! Aside from just wrapping it well with paper bags, i think a large box it probably the way to go...

Good luck! Im gla you finally got your Aussies! xoxo

i have had all my plushes shipped by airmail, it cost me like $175 to do this, but i added insurance and i also had the pj plushes tucked in their legs, so i kinda got double the pony for the almost same amount. I have bought from 3 different sellers and i heard that the size is an issue now. I dont know if you can still ship them stuffed because of the size, but i had all mine shipped stuffed. I am down to missing 2 now, rainbow dash and Wysteria to have everyone made. I love the plushes and they are worth it in my opinion because you can buy them here!

I had 3 shipped in thier original boxes, and a couple came garbage bagged into like 4 bags and taped heavy which saved like 60 bucks! It actually came all the way without a problem!

check out UPS freight? or other freight companies? Fed ex as well. Seriously, squish them as much as possible in a box

I'd go with destuffing them myself. The new owner can have fun butchering other stuffed animals or old pillows and deciding how firm she wants her new plus to be :D
You could close her surgery back up with a simple whipstitch and if it was with matching thread you would never really see it.

I think destuffing them is probably the way to go here, as others have said. When we moved from AU to the U.S. I had mine shipped with our belongings via sea freight with a shipping company, but I think that would be REALLY expensive.. because they have a minimum charge when you do it that way. I think our minimum charge was $800 USD (which was fine, because we were shipping a lot of stuff and our total came out to a bit more than that).

If you don't want to destuff them, I think places like UPS or Fedex are the way to go, but I know it'll be expensive, too... to ship a hard drive to Australia, we once looked into it, and it was probably about $80 via UPS! And they're tiny compared to a big pony!

When I got my giant Minty the seller wrapped her in a ton of black garbage bags and tapped her up really well (the PO guys were really curious as to what she was lol) Otherwise I have heard of people opening the seam on the belly, taking the stuffing out and shipping in a box but I know mine came to me in one piece no tears or anything.

You have to unstuff them,, because they exceed the size regulations to have them shipped stuffed now. Make the cut the seam in their belly and unstuff. I'm so happy that you are getting them after all of that!

I would have to agree with unstuffing them. I think it would be worth the extra trouble if you saved a ton of money. Hopefully you know someone who can sew. :) If I ever get one, I'll have to have my grandma or my mom sew up the seam for me.

Ive always heard that the \'unstuff and shove into garbage bags and tape heavily\' method works well! :] Best of luck to you, the giants are so cute!

I also would agree with unstuffing.. However I would NOT rip open their belly.

I would try to find a seam and pick apart the stitches that way. Perhaps on the underneath where their leg meets their torso or a similar seam. You really only need an opening as big as a couple fingers, some tweezers and patience.

by them each a plane ticket :) i have no clue, but sounds like un stuffen might be the way.

Thank you all for the advice!! I think we WILL be de-stuffing them. :)

You know, I'd love to see that G1 MIB pajama case! You do have pics of it, right? In fact, I'd love to see your whole collection--I know you've got some really neat stuff--do you have a gallery somewhere? :)

And thank you! I'm really happy they're on the way!

I wish it were still possible to ship them airmail.. because I totally would. I don't think it's going to be an option though, so we'll have to unstuff and restuff.

Do you have pictures of all your plushes? I'd love to see them! :D

Hehe you do know I'm the "new owner" right? ;) I think I'll hit up a craft store before butchering any stuffed animals lmao.

What is a whipstitch? This might be handy!

There is a seam at their belly. I wouldn't try to cut the seam anywhere else or unstuff with tweezers, that would take a year to unstuff one that way. We're talking about a 3ft tall plush here.
Here is my sweetberry and rainbow dash. I had them shipped flat, and restuffed them. You also need to make sure that the tubes in their legs that make them stand are sent, or you could just replace them with heavy cardboard ones or pvc piping.

I was not aware that there was a seam on the belly since I have not seen a picture of their belly. I was merely saying to not rip it open where there was not a seam.

Wow, awesome! I'm so glad you got your plushes! Which two are you getting?

Moondust miracle, I'm glad you clarified that they're just tubes in the legs. My Frilly was never unstuffed, but she has always tried to lean a little to her left. I'd been wondering what her skeleton looked like.

And Jewel, if you don't care about getting your pony to stand you don't have to bother with the skeleton. I've seen quite a few people get theirs from overseas and just leave them floppy. It's not as authentic to the original condition, I guess, but it would certainly make the pony more huggable. I guess it depends on your preference.

(Oh! Moondust miracle, what on Earth is that plush cupcake-looking thing between Sweetberry's legs? I'm guessing it's a pony item that I'm just spacing out on...?)
