I'm just wondering what's the going price for some my little ponies that are still in the box.
the first one is a 1983 "Parasol" pony still in the box.
the second one is a 1984 unicorn "powder" pony still in the box.
and the third is a 1984 unicorn "sparkler" pony still in the box.
The only problems are that the boxes are damaged and aged looking. They've been in the atic all this time.
They are the real deal from Hong Kong, Hasbro, Pat Pending.
I'd really love some input.

with the damage its hard to say, there are a lot of MOCs floating around right now, anywhere from $30-60

can you describe these "boxes?"

no offense, but it's not very good to have your first post be a price check. Would you mind posting an intro so we can get to know you first?

oh yeah. sorry. i've never been part of a forum before.
I'm an at home mom, working part time doing in home care. I have a 2 year old son and we live in washington. I ran across these old my little ponies a while back and I started to wonder about them. I use to be a huge fan when I was a kid, along with care bears. My entire room was themed with care bears, including the wall paper and bed spread/sheets.
I also had a ton of my little ponies and cabage patch dolls. When I started looking into this forum it made me really miss those toys.
As to the ponies, the boxes are kinda dirty, (i suppose i could clean them) and aged looking.
The 83' parasol pony is the better looking, with the outside a little warped.
the other two (84') unicorns are just about the same. Just the plastic holding is not so clear and brown looking.
thanks for including me and answering my questions. The MLPTP feels like a really nice and inviting group.

Welcome! Do you happen to have a camera and are able to post pics? Sometimes it's easier to do a price check if people can actually see the pony. :)

Hmmmmm not yet. I'm hoping to get a camara one of these days. I guess i'll just have to have a friend with one over.
The contents aren't damaged, just the boxes.
Thanks for writing... :)

Oh my goodness! I was looking deeper into my attic and found all my old MLP! i found starshine from 82, Gusty from 84, my favorites FireFly from 83 and NightGlider from 82; and moonshine from 83.
They are so dirty and love worn I can't believe it! I also found the some baby ones and two other fuzzy ones. I forgot they made fuzzy ones.
Where is the best place to look up more information so i can figure out what these fuzzy ones are?
I'll try to post pics later, my brother is coming over with his camara tonight.

Welcome to the board Esansom. We're lucky to have a lovely friendly helpful community so I'm sure you'll get a lot of help. As for your question about websites try this one, it's run by one of our members. It's very helpful.

http://www.mylittleponycollector.com/

There's another website you could try called dream valley but I don't have the url handy for that one. Someone will though I'm sure!

oh sorry. They haven't been opened. they're still in the original plastic covered package. The cardboard display (or whatever you call it) is a little warped, and the glue and plastic is a bit discolored from being stuck in an attic so long....
does this help?
Thanks :)

So the bubbles are yellowed/worn? :)

Do they kind of look like this?

Though they are still mint on their cards (MOC), yellowed bubbles, bent/creases, and worn-out cards can decrease a MOC pony's value (this of course can depend on the pony. People would still drop a pretty penny for a MOC Ice Crystal, even if his card wasn't pristine).

If the cards are like the Baby Sea Pony's above, then I *think* Parasol should be worth around $20-25.
Powder~ $20-30.
Sparkler~ $20-30.

Powder and Sparkler seem to be favourites amongst collectors, so that is why they are a little bit higher than Parasol.:)

wow that's exactly what they look like! the edges of the cards are a little bent. Powder is the prettiest looking MOC of the three. I'll be taking pics some time this week.
I'm not sure whether I should sell them or not. I found the ones I played with as a kid, and I know I'll always keep those! I'll need to find out the right way to clean them and such. But I'm not sure if I want to collect MOC (cause my husband would kill me for one LOL, I already collect things for the crafts I make).
I'd Probably prefere to sell so someone else could enjoy them. But also not sure if I should... Loyalty and all.
Does that make sense? Since finding them all over again it's like finding my old friends. I grew up as an only child and the closest kid I could play with was about a mile down the road. So MLP, care bears, Rainbow Bright etc... were more than just toys to me.
but I think I just might. I have a toddler who just sees the MOC ones and wants them, and doesn't understand they are not to play with. So maybe I will.
What do you guys think?

That sounds like a great stash! congrats! Well, it's really up to you but if you don't feel like you want to hold on to MOCs (and withhold yourself from opening them!), you could make quite a bit of money selling them as MOCs (they are worth a lot more that way). With that money you could by many more loose ponies (either in lots or individually), and your husband can't complain can he? As that money is coming from pony sales in the first place. And also, you and your toddler can both enjoy the growing collection. Just my two cents!

I personally wouldn't sell them if they had even brought back an ounce of nostalgia, which I'm guessing they did for you. :) I, as well as many other collectors, consider childhood ponies to be a treasure. They are staples in my collection because I love to tell friends why my Baby Starbow has shaving knicks on her face (from me shaving her head at bathtime, haha), or why Chocolate Delight has a terrible hairstyle.

But, it's ultimately up to you. You could get a nice chunk of change for them. If you want them to go to a collector, then I'd recommend selling them here so you'll for sure know they go to one that will appreciate your girls.

Oh my yes! The memories are coming back alright. I think I'll take your advice about selling them here though if i do! I have more of a love for the ponies I use to play with than the ones that sat in thier boxes. I just might..
Does anyone know where there might be a place to look up cleaning my old MLP's? I don't want to damage them, but they are quite love worn and need some long needed TLC.
any suggetions

LOL that is one of the worst cards Ive ever seen....

I was at a garage sale 2 years ago and this lady had a MOC She-ra!!! The card was really yellow and creased but not faded at all. She said that it was a christmas present for someone and they forgot about it. If only they bought them a pony instead....

the best way to clean dirt off ponies is magic clean eraser. if there is paint on them, nail polish remover, BUT DONT USE IT ON SYMBOLS OR EYES, it will remove them

I don't want this to turn into a MOC v.s. not debate, but a lot of collectors open their MOC ponies, childhood or not, in attempts to "set them free" or re-live the childhood smells and experience. One thing though, if you do decide to open them, there is a risk that the pony may not be mint. Sometimes when a pony has been MOC for so long, they end up getting dents and dilapidation because of the card's pressure on the plastic for so many years.

As far as your question about cleaning, there have been a lot of threads here that give examples and techniques on how to clean them (you can use the Search button for this up top, and just type in "pony clean" and use the drop down menu to select "General Discussion"). It depends on the extent of your pony's cleanilness, but if she just has surface dirt {dust that has turned to dirt around the pony's body) and looks a little manky, then a light wash should liven her up. A lot of people like to use the Magic Eraser for this, but some SoftSoap and water should work just fine. Shampoo & Conditioner doesn't really matter, but I swear by my old bottle of Pantene. :)

For frizz, I love to use a small, ceramic flat-iron. Works wonders.

As far as I know, there's nothing to help yellowed bubbles. ;(

OT: baby*paradise, I miss your old signature. I keep thinking you're someone new, lol.

back on topic: before we can absolutely say anything for sure about your ponies, we have to have clear pictures. You can tell us things like the hair condition, but there are all kinds of issues a pony can have that is just way too hard for a non-collector to figure out, like plastic mold.

Here's Powder. She was packaged in 85 her foot says 84. the bubble is a little discolored and the card is slightly warped. But isn't she pretty?

Here is Parasol. She was packaged in 84, her foot says 83. the Bubble is in okay condition, but the card is bent in bottom right corner and is also curved like a wave.
