What do your childhood ponies look like?

I'm a G1 generation pony and I've been cleaning and styling my ponies this weekend. Something unusual I've noticed is that my G1's are still all in mint condition. I received most of them in 1982-1986, when I was 8 years old. Even as a child I was meticulously organized and a clean freak with my toys. Don't get me wrong, I played excessively with them and they had all kinds of adventures until I was 16 years old. (Yes, I actively had imaginative play sessions until I was 16 years old). I'm thankful today that I cared for them so well.

Tell me what kind of child you were. Did you keep your toys pristine? Did you give them make up and hair cuts? Has your herd survived your childhood?

Here are a couple I brushed up today.

I still have my original childhood ponies! I played with them quite a bit, but also took care of them (never gave them any hair cuts, or marked them up in any way). They were well-loved. :) And I think they've lasted pretty well :3 aside from frizzy hair on a bunch. ^.^; They had a couple of their own adventures and stories I made up as a kid (none of which I can remember [lol]). I remember playing ponies with a couple of my elementary school friends, too. :) It was always fun, going over to their houses, and seeing all the cool ponies and playsets that I didn't have. ^_^

Your original herd look absolutely beautiful! :D They still look super minty!

Love looking at the pics here! Wish I could post my collection but having a hard time with my smart phone settings right now. I think I'll just create a free website using the hPage website builder so I can show off my pony collection. I love the slideshow gallery feature at hPage.

Wonderful pictures! If only half my ponies survived in such pristine condition... *sigh* I played with mine extensively so they're full of paint rubs, faded colors (my poor Magic Star got hit the hardest :( ), and I know I gave a few of them really bad haircuts. I was like a little maniac with scissors. :D

I have my childhood collection. It started 1984 around the year I was born, my mom was on top of collecting for ne.

The last one I bought in store, I'll never forget it was the mid 1990's and our local Yard Birds flooded out and i bought the purple sundae treats pony with her package covered in flood mud

It was heavily discounted as the store had to go out of business due to the flood suuuuuper sad as Yard Birds was my happy place full of ponies

I might supply pics sometime soon
Of my childhood collection

Their condition is pretty much played with condition, just from my childhood

Am glad I had the bulk of my collection stashed away in the attic during the phase when I cut hair off a few ponies I had on-hand, and drew wrinkles on them...

I thought the hair would grow back

My childhood ponies got played with a lot, but otherwise stayed in their bin and only a few have scuffs from rubbing against other ponies. I was a mere kid when G3 came out but even Skyskimmer, my very first pony, is still in gorgeous condition. My sister's had a few pen marks and minor hair cuts, at least on G1s, but honestly I don't recall what condition our G1s were in when we got them from various antiques stores. Funny end, my sister's Sunlight has a bunch of pen marks but her glitter is almost mint. Unfortunately my ponies' glitter symbols are noticeably faded, not to mention Beachball with the thickest, waviest hair ever, like a pony afro.

I only have 2 left sadly. They are in good condition since they were the older year ones. Curly Locks and Twinkler. I have like 3 twinklers now and ones an upgrade the other a mail order.

I was a very careful kid; I treated all my toys with respect. Aside from some surface dirt which easily came off with a Magic Eraser, some frizz on my very first pony's tail (a G3 Strawberry Swirl with tinsel so...it was bound to happen) and Paradise' flocking rubbing off a bit more from so much moving around, all my ponies survived my childhood with no real extra wear. And I was sort of a tomboy (ponies were my one 'girlish' interest) so I never had the desire to trim their hair or anything, I just used to curl it and brush it.

I actually began seriously 'collecting' when I was around 7, looking up all the ponies and keeping them clean and on shelves (after I played with them I'd clean them and put them on a shelf). So yeah they all stayed pretty nice! I'm glad my mama taught me to take care of my things <3

I was a teen when I got mine and though they had many battles with my action figures, most remained unscathed. Then they got swiped. So, no childhood ponies for me. But I have bought as many replacements as I can, and I love them just the same. I'll even buy baity ponies, I ain't picky. Too bad all but my bestest of the best ponies are put up. I have one stuffed shelf full out, everyone else is in a tub. Tubs. Tubs and tubs. And I bet they're plotting for revenge!

:shock::cry::unsure:

I was a very careful child, not with myself, but with my toys. I never purposely damaged any of my ponies. I never cut any or their hair and only one or two have the accidental pen marks where a pen ended up in the box with them. Any muck was always washed off and they were always cared for really well by both me and my mum. The playsets got a little broken and damaged but that was only because they were incredibly loved and well played with.

I was born in 2001 and my mum was actually given my first mlps at her baby shower (they were Royal Sweet Berry and the Royal Castle and Princess Silver Swirl) and so I've been collecting for nearly 17 years. I grew up with the majority of my ponies being G2 and G3, but I was given my mum and aunties ponies by my granddad when i was about 3 (I still remember really clearly somehow) and they were and still are in mint condition. The first pony I ever remember getting was Kimono, and shes the most worn and well loved, but shes still in amazing condition.

The only ponies I have that are damaged, are ones I have bought second hand, but my originals are all immaculate and pristine and still have all their original combs and accessories somehow too. I would take a picture but there's 356 of them... 431 including all the ones I've bought second hand. My dad would have a heart attack if he knew how many I really have, he thinks I have around a hundred or so... :surprisepony::lolpony:

My few I have still have faint traces of war paint on them but they were them with honor. No body missed with my ponies (evil laugh)
