I was here a couple of days ago and read some pony cancer threads, and after i thought i should have another check of my herd, just in case. Well, i found that Trucker (childhood pony), Gusty (cp), Baby Lucky, Steamer, and Gingerbread  have got "cancer" spots and sweet tooth and Galaxy have smooze:shock: .
I was gutted, and it made me question why im collecting if this is going to happen to every pony in the end. I am more upset that my childhood ponies have it, I reguarly check them and i cant believe ive never noticed before.
Now i dont know whether to try and get rid of them (not my childhood ponies) or to try and treat them to stop it spreading. Im so paranoid that it might spread to the rest of the herd i would rather sell them.
I dont even know where to start to "cure" them, and is it worth trying to sell them, i mean who would want them now?
What would you do?

I don't think you shall worry so much! The same thing happened to me. Most of my childhood ponies have smooze cause I stored them in the basement before collecting  But I boiled them to prevent spreading and now they are in constant quaranteen. I don't keep the smooze ponies with the other ones (they are in different rooms). Though I have kept boiled smooze ponies with "healthy ones" and I never noticed spreading. I would never ever throw away or sell my childhood ponies though. I love them in any state cause they made me love My Little Ponies and they give me such wonderful and nostalic memories :) Besides I know that I could never find the same pony again. They was the ponies I played with as a child.

Yeah , i agree with you. I could never get rid of the ponies i had as a child, they gave me so much pleasure. Is there website with a step by step guide on how to treat cancer and smooze?

Pony cancer is a myth, it doesn't hop from one pony to another, the only reason it seems to spread throughout a herd is because that herd was kept in poor storage conditions. (Excessive, dampness, humidity, heat, cold, sunlight - can all damage and discolor/spot ponies over time)

Gingerbread is very prone to brown spots, as is confetti, trucker, starshine and a number of other ponies.

No need to boil them, or do anything like dip them in bleach. Just make sure you keep your ponies in a spot that doesn't get too much light, is dry and stays about room temperature.

SLD, Thanks for the links :)

Fantastic Firefly, I have heard so many different things about cancer, that I dont know what to believe. I hope it is a myth because my ponies are kept in the conditions you mentioned so with a bit of luck they will be ok.

Thanks again, emma :)
