What silly thing made you realize you're an adult?

No seriously, I was an old soul. I was 8 years old the first time I had to stay a week in the Children's Hospital. I grew up fast in the taking-care-of-myself department.

I was never myself admitted to the hospital but I grew up in and out of the hospital too because my Gran was sick so while I didnt get the feeling of being the one who was sick, It definitely was a weird serious pit of your stomach feeling being in and out of the hospital for almost my entire toddler life until I was 6. Then a funeral there after. I still remember chewing cherry Trident gum at the funeral home. They dont sell that flavor anymore! Its weird looking back on hospital things when we were kids! To me it felt horribly serious and yet, i found the lightness to be had. We had found Lion King stuff in the hospital gift shop bc this was the 90s, I would make a habit of picking out which flowers i liked best, and i would take toys. Its a weird mix of feelings for sure!
