When is it unsafe to put a new pony with the herd?

I know mold would be one. But are there any other conditions on ponies that might transfer to other ponies that I need to be on the look out for? I've done so much pony research that all of the notes in my head are colliding together. I guess a little of information overload. Just wondering if some marks create chemical reactions that end up on neighboring ponies in the collection.

I only know that you don't want them smashed against each other since some of the colors will bleed.

I know I don't put custom pony near my non custom pony due to the fact that they might have glue or sculpted clothing or glitter on there.
One of my customs got really scratch up when I moved and I put her with my normal pony and not with the others. Like wise two of my older ponies have glitter and a black mark from one of my custom that got too close on the shelf with a normal pony.

Also hair can get tangled I have found so its good to leave a little room between them especially if you have them in outfits or hair ***.

All of my ponies are jammed together for lack of space and I am not having any problems, but I am concerned about hair bleed as it is the number one cause of that highlighter look we find on ponies. The problem that causes this though really is more about throwing ponies in a box and keeping them in a space that is too hot for too long where moisture can build up and cause breakdown in the hair so it bleeds onto ponies. Sadly all of my G3's are in a huge container because, I have no place to put them. So, I imagine I am going to have some losses later but I have done the best I can. I move my ponies around a lot to hopefully help, but I can't afford the luxury of devoting space to a pony room. Maybe someday if I get a bigger house I can. I have no other place to put my ponies. I went for no light and lack of dust exposure to protect my ponies. Honestly, they are going to have issues just about any place we put them. I would be careful what you set them on too. Natural wood/glass or white plastic is best. Any shelf that is painted or colored plastic would not be a good choice for the long term.

Heat and humidity are the enemy! I've only got one to deal with, luckily. I don't have many customs, but I did find out that they can mark other ponies.

Contrary to what is often reported, pony cancer and plastic breakdown cannot spread from one pony to another. The only time that would "spread" is when ponies are kept in hot humid conditions, which will cause the breakdown in the first place. So it's not spreading from one pony to another, it's just developing on certain ponies.

I wouldn't keep customs with your regular ponies. Sometimes heat or certain clearcoats can make the paint/clearcoat get stuck to other ponies! Yes, I know this from experience...

Leaking plastiziser causes a reaction that makes plasticizer leak in other plastics as well, so don't let sticky ponies touch. Mold only spreads if the humidity is too high (according to a book I got, I'm not that smart, lol).

When they're moldy or going through plasticizer leak, or they are a custom/touch up or they reek right outta the box. Honestly, I buy a lot of secondhand stuff for me and my kiddo, so our toys get washed asap before play/display, but that is just me.

Though to be honest, I still haven't gotten around to cleaning up Ribbon yet. Shame on me.

I read that ponies who have plastiziser leak can be really hard? I have a Bluebelle with really hard feet, almost brittle. Should she stay away? She's not sticky at all. Just hard, dried out feet.

The pvc hardens as the pasticizer bleeds out. For whatever reason it's leaked out of her feet but not the rest of her yet. It's also possible it was unevenly distributed in the first place. I don't know for sure, but I believe the pony will be sticky if it's actively leaking out. I don't think having her on the same shelf with the others will hurt, just don't have them touching. That's not the gospel truth or anything, that's just what I suspect.

Another thing: Chartreuse colored hair! If the hair is still wet or you have humidity/warm climates, make sure you set her hair away from other ponies and her body as it can bleed

I find you have to separate mean Ponies from your herd. If you hear hollering or fighting, you might have to go do a little refereeing and take out the offender until they learn to all get along.

I had to do exactly that with mimic. She thought that, just because she cost more, she was too good to stay with all the other te. A little time in the drawer set her straight.
