White Windy vs Faded Windy?

I know there is a rare version of Windy that is white, and also that most Windies fade to white with time... so... is there anything else different about her? How do you recognize the real white Windy without popping her head open?

Does anyone have a comparison pic of a faded Windy vs a true white Windy?

I have to admit, I'm not convinced of her existence. Yes, they do look white, and can be white all the way through, but some versions of Windy were not as dark to begin with. The ones I came across growing up were all pretty pale.

The ones that *might* be real have a blue symbol, but I still sit in the extreme fading camp.

My sister had a Windy when she was a kid, who I KNOW was never exposed to extreme sunlight. In fact, Emma thought she was "too old" for ponies by the time she had her, so she spent most of her life in the cupboard. She's very white with pure blue symbols though - her head is firmly sealed to her body, so I've never dared to try looking inside her, especially as she's one of my special childhood ponies etc. Sadly she's been packed away now, so I can't get photos. :(

But that wasn't much help to the original question, was it? So I think I'll leave it to the experts...

I don't have a picture of mine next to a faded Windy but here is one that I bought off of ebay years ago that was sold as white Windy. I don't know for sure if she exists or not but I like to think she's real. Mine is white all the way through and I do not see any evidence of her once being purple anywhere. I think it would be near impossible for the whole pony to fade evenly all over and even if she's made of a plastic that's prone to fading why is she the only pony this happens to consistently? Oh well, it's a subject I love talking about. Maybe one day we'll have the answer to the mystery:)

PT I believe Wol if you remember her had one at one stage. I think she sold up her collection. At any rate hers had a blue symbol too, it was very distinctly white, like Glory more than that faintly blueish white you'd expect from fading.

Thanks for the thread Cannibal :)

I remember Wol, not her Windy tho... Aww collection sold :(

That pic is great Cricket! She's lovely. So I guess the symbol is a definite sign. I went to a toy show this weekend and this guy selling ponies had a *ton* of overpriced ponies ($10 per pony, all semi-bait, nothing rare) and in the lot, he had about 3 Windys. One was clearly faded, the other one was purple, and the other one was white, but she just didn't seem right. I didn't get her, but I started to wonder if I had made a mistake. Now I know I didn't.

Mmmmm White Windy~ I want to believe she exists and I've always thought she did. All I knew was that she was white with a blue symbol. I can't really see how a purple symbol would fade to a blue, or how the pony can fade evenly all over... unless there's someone out there turning normal Windy's into White Windys :p Though I'd still want one.

I've owned and sold a few White Windy ponies over the time. Actaully I have come across another one. What I have found is that 'White Windy' can vary from a very pale shade of lavender to a creamy white. Her symbols have a blue tinge to them and are a thicker wind than most. She has also only been spotted outside the US. What I think has caused her was a change in paints & pigments at the factory were she was being made. Her symbols do have a bit of a purple colour to them but you can see a blue bleed under them.

If anyone knows what she normally goes for in very good to near mint condition, please let me know as the one I have on hand is for sale - after a bath. :)

Red fades easily, so purple symbol COULD fade to blue! If you take away the red from purple you'll be left with blue.

I've seen pics of White Windies with blue symbols AND faint purple colour left in the plastic of the neck seam! I think White Windy is a faded regular Windy, but from a special batch that fades easily or whatever, but she was MEANT to be regular Windy and something didn't go right during production (analogy with Blue Belle).

That's exactly what I think. Red pigments are the largest of pigments (I can't explian that any ore scientifically, it's too early) and leach out of things really easity. That's why dyed redheads have to dye more often - the red comes out of their hair and leaves it orange.

I've got "white" Windys that don't have the blue symbol - they're just really faded evenly. So sure, White Windy exists, but she's a factory error like the Bobby variants and weird Blue Belles.

Not True on the symbol color PT
I just got this girl cleaned up, and look at these blue symbols
and yet she is lavender.

Her Symbols are clearly blue and with nice glitter, but she is lavender.

I have bought several "White" windys over the years, and not one proved to be true white when the heads were removed

I'm afraid that white windy is one pony i just don't believe in. I've seen loads of Windy's that vary from being definately purple to almost white but to me she just seems very prone to fading. I've also seem very purple Windy's with a blue symbol and Windy's that some might think were white windy's with purple symbols. She's certainly not a pony I'd pay a lot of money for lol.

I'm sceptical about her existence. I guess until I could actually see one and can hold and see her in real life I will never believe she exists. I like the idea of her though, a truly white windy (like bright white) would be quite pretty.

I thought white windy was proven while I was away but I guess not. I'm also still a skeptic...she's the "white whale" apparantly
