aside from obvious ones, like rapunzel or mimic who are the most rare or valuable ponies? i've seen punzie go for almost $1000, and mimic consistantly hovers around $140, while others are under $5. last night i saw a lot of 12 piggy ponies for $7000. so...which ones are rare and valuable? what country are they from? which gen? and who do you personally consider rare? let's have fun with this. lol

Hmm I saw a Thailand variant of Ice Crystal that went for over $650 once...

I know more about g3 costs, and Rosey Posey goes for about $200 and Trolley and her sister Frisco go around $150 each along with the Licensing show Rarity and Pinkie Pie.

Depending on condition and stuff, I think Crumpet can get up there in price. Nothing like the ones you guys mentioned, though.....

Most G1 Nirvanas are very rare and worth a lot, but not all. Like those Italian big brothers are very rare, I think there is only one of each to be known in existence. Many mail order ponies are very rare too like you mentioned Rapunzel.

The comic con and fair ponies are pretty rare for G3, as well as Beache Belle and Carribbean Delight,

For G4 the rarest ponies are either Fashion Style Derpy Hooves from Comic Con or Applejack, as well as some prototypes such as wingless FS Rainbow Dash, or White Celestia.

Although it's more of a variant than a "regular" pony, I think Reverse Gusty might be up there as well.

Though I've never seen one over $40-ish, I'd consider Baby Princess Sparkle pretty rare. ...Which kind of sucks for me.

Then again, I'd consider "rare" any pony whose price goes over $15. I figure that if they're sought after enough that the price reaches that point, that means the supply is low enough to justify it.

I've never seen a Baby Brother Leapfrog for sale. I can't find that one anywhere.

edit: Correction, I just saw one go on ebay for $76. That's still the only one I've ever seen for sale.

Italian big bros..

There are Italian Big Brothers?? ! How did I miss them.. :shockpony:

Are there pics somewhere??

I'm not willing to pay $1000.00 for one pony, never.
I have some rare European ponies like Nightlight and Raindrop and a German Starshine. I also consider Baby Lemondrop and Baby Cherries Jubilee as rare.
There are a few more rare babies like the TAF babies.
It's also near impossible to find a normal Confetti or a Tickles without pony cancer even if they aren't quite expensive.

There are rare times when I see a pony go for almost $1000 on EBAY but I forgot which one. I don't think I will ever afford those expensive rare ponies.

There's a difference between rarity and value. A pony that has a ton of individual pieces out there (like G4 fashion style applejack) can be super expensive because there's only so many on the market at any one time and/or they're very sought after. Laws of supply and demand, really. That's why some people say that some rare ponies are $50 and others list rares as being $1000+.

I think rarity really means that there's not many out there in the world, such as the Takara ponies, certain nirvanas (Italian big brothers) and factory errors. But how many people want to buy a G4 pony with an eye printed badly? It's "rare" in that there's no pony exactly like it, but the value is pretty low, so most people wouldn't bother with it.

The rarest G4 out there (since it's the gen I know most about) would be pink wave 1 Twilight blind bag. They only made her with the first "set" of toys in Europe, so she was quickly replaced with the purple toy. Most people don't realize she's so rare, so her value isn't super high.
