I was just wondering. I'm thinking of getting some. Do they work? What are they like? How many do you have? Which ones do you have?

Cassettes as in old fashioned casette tapes?

I have one, somewhere, from my childhood. A sort of read-a-long tape that came with a book. Last I tried playing it, it was a worn out mess with almost inaudible voices but after a cleaning it came out alright though you could still tell I'd listened to it a gazillion times as a kid.

Guess it all depends in what shape you find them. Sometimes a clean-up can do the trick - though honestly I don't even know where you can get tape cleanser anymore. Might be better off looking for MIB tapes if they ever pop up.

I have three cassettes and three records. The records and two of the cassettes go with read-along books and the other cassette came with Baby Ember. (I think some of the books could come with either a record or a tape.)

While my cassettes work fine, I do worry about them being damaged when played; so, I transferred them into audio files on my computer and also copied them onto CDs. I donated the files to LadyMoondancer and she made these two videos:

Ember's Dream: G1 My Little Pony story - Ember's Dream (complete) - YouTube

Glory the Magic Unicorn: Glory the Magic Unicorn - G1 My Little Pony Read-Along Book - YouTube

I also have scans most of my other books that go with them (I still haven't gotten around to scanning The Magic Rainbow):

The Dance Recital
Picnic at Paradise Estate
Lost in the Clouds

I have The Magic Rainbow read-along book and cassette. I don't know if my cassette still works though.

I've seen the Ember's dream video. :D
That's cool!

I LOVE the cassettes! I'm trying to see how many languages I can get - I also have the Cotton Candy cassette player.

I don't actually listen to them, but most seem to be story tapes with the occasional song. Some of them are also those Read-a-long things with books.

I actually like the records even more than the tapes - I was so happy when I finally got the record case last year.
