Winged Magic Star?

The past couple months, I've been making making mini profile sheets of all the ponies who appeared in the G1 animated series for another board I'm a member of. I've been downloading the episodes from Youtube, so I wouldn't have to be on the internet all the time to make screencaps. I was in the process of collecting screencaps for the ponies from Rescue at Midnight Castle, when I noticed something really peculiar.

The version of Rescue at Midnight Castle that I downloaded came with the My Little Pony n' Friends intro (the one where Spike ends up taking a ride on Rosedust's tail). Near the end of the intro, I spotted this:

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's Magic Star in that screencap, right? If so, why does she have wings? As far as I know, Magic Star was an Earth Pony in both toy form and animated form.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I have a theory that magic star was meant to be a pegasus. Did anyone else notice that in the glass princess, Megan takes the pegasus ponies... and magic star for some reason??!

The animated show is absolutely riddled with mistakes. Ponies talking with the wrong voices, species changes, color changes, etc.

I'd never thought about MS being meant to be a pegasus, but it's possible. A lot of the So Soft ponies switched species from concept to actual toy production. There are 3 in particular that I know for sure did - Fifi, Hippety Hop, and one other earthie. They all just rotated species. Let me dig, I can't remember who the third is.

EDIT - It's Skippety Doo. Apparently Twist switched hair colors:

I've seen some strange drawings, too, where the ponies are the wrong species. This one takes the cake in my book. It's from the merry-go-round stamp game. This is one of the sheets that you stamp. The pony looking out the castle window has both wings and a horn! I think that would have been so cool as a real G1 pony!

Wow! When did Baby Lofty sprout a horn? Very cool! I wouldn't mind an alicorn Lofty. :satisfied:

That's actually Baby Surprise, from Escape From Catrina. She does rock the look, oddly enough. :p

But yeah, I also noticed pegasus Magic Star the last time I saw the opening. My guess is that it was actually supposed to be Lofty, since she's also yellow.

Oops, you're right. That is Baby Surprise. You'd think I'd catch that since Lofty was one of my originals. Hm, I wonder what prompted the horn. Maybe Hasbro wanted to add a "surprise".

Watching the cartoons, I've noticed quite a few mess-ups. Ponies have changed species, colors, even voices. I guess they were trying to get the cartoons made so quickly that they didn't spend a lot of time carefully looking at what they were doing.
