After visiting Savers today, I came home toting about a pound a MLPs; mostly G3s but a few gems of G1s. (I'll post the story and pictures later)

Anyways, in the G3s i found a beautiful Kimono who's hair was in a crinkled tinsel mess! Her hair itself was great, same as her body. No flaws that a day at the spa couldn't fix, so she was a great candidate for de-tinseling.

But as I inspected closer I discovered something I'd never seen before with G3s! The dreaded...Tail Rust!

I looked over the others, and both the first release Pinkie Pie and Thistle Whistle I found today had tail rust as well!

I was kinda shocked, i didn't know they could be getting Tail Rust already.

ya ive had a few rusty tail G3s
doesnt take too long i guess
the worst is when its in teh glitter body ones, the heads are SOOOOO hard to remove!
congrats on your finds tho :)

hmm thats strange i didnt know the g3's got tail rust either. i havent had one yet and i hope to keep it that way... i have the hardest time getting their heads off...

I had a rarity once that was so full of rust on the inside. It was disgusting.

i guess that was before they switched to the plastic washer likes things holding the tails. that does suck about tail rust. but if you are willing to try to get rid of it, there is a tutorial on how to remove tail rust.

My very first Star Catcher with the blue fabric wings had tail rust. :(

Yeah, Hasbro used a mixture of plastic a metal washers to hold the tails in (at least in the early G3 days), and the ones with metal washers definitely CAN get tail rust. I learned the hard way when my travelling Pinkie Pie developed a nasty brown stain. I guess I didn't let her drain properly when I washed and styled her hair... >.<

I've got several G3's with tail rust :(
Ooh toothpaste helps? I didn't know that!

Wow! That's nuts! I've never seen G3 tail rust, either!
