MOC ponies have lasted 20 year or longer on the card they need to stay on the card.
If I had one that I was tempted to open I would try to get the pony loose so I can pet it. Leave the MOC one for a MOC collector.

I agree with Ivy, I would be tempted but id rather her be safe in her packaging than break her out. It would be a great challened not to but as a few others have said i would get a loose one of that same pony if i could afford to of course.

Yes I would, if the packaging was damaged in any way. If it was perfect I would leave it alone. Saying that I have bought quite a few MIB playsets that I have deboxed and put together. Did that lessen the value? Quite probably. However I would much rather look at a playset all made up with the stickers attached and the accessories (complete never-been-touched accessories!) out than look at a box knowing it was inside, yet never being able to look at it! There is a My Pretty Pony up for BIN on eBay at the moment for £199.99 - if I had the money I would buy her and debox her! You just can't see the pony and I don't see the point. Mind you I think thats an OTT price for MPP.

And thats why I am not a MIB/MOC collector!!! (although some G3 sets my OH bought me have stayed in the box - I'm not allowed to get them out!)

If I found a super rare MOC/MIB for cheap somewhere I would resell it to someone else then buy a minty loose one for myself if I had to have that pony.

If there was only one known to exist at all I'd leave it in the package. If I absolutely had to have one to 'play' with I'd make a custom or have someone make a custom of it.

I'm one of those people who can't leave something in the package. I just HAVE to handle my ponies.

Personally, I would not do that. I know that there are many collectors out there who collect MOC. If I came across such a pony, I would probably try to set up a trade. One MOC pony for one loose of the same and perhaps another pony to even out the value.

I've always wanted a MIB/MIP pony just to see it in it's original state but they are too much for me to buy. But, knowing me it would be hard not to open it. I am not one to collect ponies for value. I just buy it because I want it. If for example, if lets say I got ahold of a Mimic MIP I'd probably open it. People who collect for value would consider that a sin, which I would agree to. I just like to see ponies out of their package. :)

If you want to turn a 1,000+ pony on the card into a 100 dollar pony off, I am sure someone here would gladly swap you for a mint one.

This is pretty much how I feel. The more we open, the less MOC/MIBs there will be for future collectors to enjoy. Including ourselves.. I love to ooogle them. lol

If I bought the pony for myself (as in knowing, I wouldn't sell it because I loved it so much), then yes I'd open it. I don't like things boxed. And it'd be off the market anyways , so I don't think it would really matter.

Yes, ponies need to be FREE!

i put yes cuz for the most part i would decard any rare pony unless i didnt liek her that much and could sell her for a different one. like an MIP rapunzel... ew... rather have the money.
its the common ones i would NOT decard. to me mimic is common, (along with most US G1s) valuable but common so i would not decard her since i could get her anytime loose in mint condition.
but its the nirvanas that i would decard. cause i LOVE them and many times they are harder ot find loose, AGENTINA ponies especially. and if they are loose many times they are in bad condition.
I have already decarded 2 argies and i intend to do it again sooooon! ^^

No, but it depends on which pony it is that Id be decarding. If its a pony I have, Id decard it. If its a MO or one I dont have, Ill keep it in is box/on card/in baggie

I'm not sure, I think I would though! But I would only take the pony out once in a while, and then put her back under her bubble. I wish I had some MOC ponies... A few to open, just like the good old days! I miss that time. And a few to keep MOC, for the beautiful toy store memories! :unicorn:

No - never!

I don't believe in decarding/deboxing G1s they are too rare and if you want a loose pony then there are plenty around for you to buy for your collection without freeing a MOC.

The only execption would be if the pony was mouldy or something similar and would be ruined if you left it. I've seen a few SS in paticular that went like that on the card.

I would decard a rare pony . I have before and I will again! Muahaha!

I miss taking my G3s from their boxes though, opening my holiday pony, Candy Cane with her neon hair, her little light necklace...

I cant do the MOC thing. I fail every time. i had a MOC green argi lofty and she stayed on card for about a month. the same with greek starshine, windy, and several other greeks

although bay breeze has managed to stay in her little baggie:wow1:

Oh, no! I can´t think about decarding a MOC pony, although it´s quite tempting when you get one, no matter if it´s HTF or not. They have been a lot of years sealed and the way of packing them is very interesting and they are discontinued, I just can´t dare to destroy that for the pleasure of touching the pony, in that case I´ll just purchase a mint condition loose one.
