After almost a year after loosing my beloved and very much missed Zephyr a new little guy has walked into my life.
Everyone meet Fred (adopted as Freddy)!
I first met him on Tuesday at work when he came in as a shelter surrender. He was brought to my clinic to be neutered and get his vaccines. He was scruffy and litterally covered in layers of matted fur right down to his skin. As soon as I picked this little guy up, I knew he needed to come home with.
While he was recovering from his surgery I called the shelter and asked the owner if he was still available and his background. I arranged for him and Clover to meet in hopes they’d get along.
On Thursday, I brought Clover to meet Fred at the shelter. It was love at first sight for them both. Then Fred came to his forever home. I’ve spent the last three days slowly grooming him and shaving all the terribly matted fur off him. He’s now officially mat free today and on the mend. Since all his fur is gone we’ve discovered that he is severely underweight and obviously has some sore and painful sensitive skin but he has the patience and love of the greatest dogs. Not once has he growled or bitten all he’s done is love. He is a little love bug and with some tlc he will get to be where he should be his whole life. My heart breaks knowing he had such an awful start but I’m so happy I am able to show him the love and care he should’ve always had. (Lol just made myself cry.)
As much as I was thinking of changing his name. I don’t have the heart to make that change on him too. So I just shortened “Freddy” down to Fred (Weasley) ah ha ha! I can’t wait to see his little personality come out more and more as he gets used to me and being in his new home.
