We just brought home a new 3d printer! Does anyone know of any MLP models out there for printing? I would love to print my own petites, a hat for Tex, etc!

Oh my goodness thank you so much for asking this question! I've been hunting and haven't found much at all and boom here are some great links!

Thanks for @ing me, @minticat !
I'd be interested in seeing other 3D models so I'll be following the thread if anyone has more additions. Also, I made a few accessories of the takara and if you aren't able to find another mlp accessory (like tex's hat) online let me know and I can maybe try making it! I know there are lots of older pony accessories that got lost over the years.

I know I've seen 3d printed Sea Pony shells, although I don't know if that's a file that can be bought/downloaded for free. I want to get a 3d printer and learn some basic modeling.

There's so many cool things we could make.

Some random ideas I've had:
  • Baby Sea Pony displays (with floats)
  • Replacment crown barrettes for second wave Princess Ponies
  • Replacment Big Brother hats (although I think making molds for flexible resin might come out better)
  • Replacment horns. I've seen some clear resin that might work for Glitter ponies
  • Replacment Sweatheart Sister earrings
  • New Sea Pony Shells
  • New booshwoolies (I dunno seems like they could be fun to design?
There's so many possiblities.

Oooh, if we can't find a 3D model for the sea pony floats I can try making those, the ducky one is super cute. I can imagine its annoying to display them if you don't have the floats. The other ones seem do-able as well. Things like replacement sweetheart sisters would be fun to do, I like the idea of filling the "hole" for when people lose those parts.

Here's some files I found while searching, I figured I should compile what I find here. I'm searching pre-g4 since there are a lot of models of g4 ponies already and those are easier to find. Most are around $5:
g1 Pony model
baby ember model
big brother model
g3 minty model
g1 rearing pose stand (not a pony but seems relevant)
takara fakie scanned model
cha cha the llama scanned model

I bought a 3D model of G3 Minty with Christmas stuff for a few dollars sometime late last year, but I totally can't find where I got the file right now... I'll look some more and let you know! (But she wasn't a pony comparable to regular toys, more of a decoration.)

These are a bit pricey, they popped up while I was looking for something else:

I found a file for butterfly shaped flutter wings! My son just printed me a white pair yesterday. I have holographic sticker paper that I plan to print a design upon and then attach to the wings.

I plan on having a gray pair next weekend and a clear pair made later once I buy the clear filament.

Would you mind posting some pictures? I've recently ordered some wingless Flutter Ponies I found cheaply on eBay, and I've generally intended to order repro wings for them, but now I'm curious if I could print my own. Though I'm not sure my printer is good enough for something so delicate...

That is so cool that you have that capability and might want to make more things! I would absolutely loooove to see the babies of the MLP lil litters, those little kitties and puppies are so cute! If you ever make those I would be so interested !

@Ora you have given me an idea for trying out some sort of filigree pattern. I have multiple options for materials, I would just need to make the pattern.

The issue with very thin prints is they can prematurely cool and, depending on the printer and set up, may have some bed adhesions issues causing lifting.

Enclosing a filament printer help, and obviously resin doesn't have that issue.

I have a few more utilitarian print files for things like rearing stands and missing parts.

I’ve been working on scanning and refining ponyvilles and other pony stuff, I’ll def post the links to the files when I finish them!
I’ve been also meaning to scan the ponyville wigs, that way bald ponies can have new hair, but I do want to experiment scanning and refining other things first :>

Update! I managed to start scanning stuff, here's a wip so far :)
I'm trying to delete the part between the legs and refining textures such as the hair lines. We're getting there!
Either ways, I'll make both this (merged legs) and the finished model available to upload. Just posting so you guys don't think I've abandoned this project ^^

Had posted this in the og thread, but here's an update! We're getting close to Ponyville files!
As for the main topic, I have Tex's hat and a baby seapony, I'll see if I can sculpt a baby seapony stand for practice and will try to scan Tex's hat!
I've also considered making replica guitars/ guitar brushes for the Rockin' Beats, however I don't own any myself- if this is something y'all would be interested in, I may give them a shot!

A couple of 3D models I attempted based on the above:

ducky3Dmodel1.PNG
ducky3Dmodel2.PNG

Ducky float file

earringmodel1.PNG

Sweetheart Sister Earring file

I thought I would start with the ones that seem most difficult to scan (at least, via the methods I've seen people use for scanning objects, I haven't done them myself). But honestly I'm not sure if the earring will work because its so small- maybe a resin printer would work only? Unsure. Since I make stuff from scratch instead of scanning I have to eyeball the proportions quite a bit too, apologies if the "stem" part that goes through the ear isnt long enough or too long.

Oh I will try the earring as I need one of those!
