Hi! I've been lurking on this forum for a little over a month now, and I'm finally taking the plunge. This place seems so fun!
My pony collection only started recently. I was a kid in the G3 era, and I was really into the first few years. My childhood collection sadly got passed down to a family friend many years ago, but after finding a Sparkleworks at a local antique store, my love was instantly rekindled. I made it my mission to reassemble my childhood pony dream team, and I'm very happy to report that I've almost got everybody back!
If only it could have stayed so simple. Outside of the cartoon, I did not have any exposure to G1 as I was growing up. Logically, I knew the toys existed, but by the time I was deep into my Pony obsession, those original G1 toys were already being hunted by collectors. They weren't the kinds of things that turned up at Goodwill. It was only a few weeks ago that I really started looking at G1 toys for the first time.
...I already own five of them now. What can I say? They're addicting!
My heart will forever lie with the G3 ponies, but I can't deny that I'm growing an affinity for the G1s too! As for my collection goals, I don't really have any. I'm just searching out whatever ponies make me the happiest. I'm sure that one day I'll go for a complete set of something, but right now, my collection is still small enough to fit comfortably inside a shoe box. It's still pretty new to me!
