Basic Fun Gusty VS Original Gusty (Euro) [MORE ADDED]

For Christmas I asked for a BF Gusty. I have plans for her to turn her into a dream Gusty but before I do that, I thought it would be interesting to compare her to an original. In the UK we have a different breed of Gusty so it isn’t what one may call an exact comparison but it is still interesting anyway.

My lightbox isn’t big enough for two ponies so they are in separate pictures. Also, my Euro Gusty has a ribbon given to her by me, it’s not an original ribbon.

Basic Fun Gusty is fresh from her box, any marks were already there and she still had her hard/glued hair that she had in her box too.

Body

The body seems pretty same to me. Not much different and I think that the lifted hoof is flatter too? When I try to put the ponies beside each other I’m sure the heads are not quite in the same position. Still good though

EDIT: The bottom of the head is more closed than original G1 ponies. My Euro Gusty still had her head glued and I don’t think ever opened so no comparison here. Basic Fun ponies still have metal washers and mine so happens to have glitter inside!


Hair

An obvious difference is the hair. I thought that the red stripe may go through the hair but it doesn’t. The stripe is on the opposite side, probably so that her face is visible on her display side. The red stripe is in the same row as the green instead of it’s own like on the original. Personally I prefer the red on its own part.

EDIT: When going to wash out that hard glue part that was in her hair, I noticed the red is in fact on it’s own part, just super close to the green as if it’s on its own row.

Cutie Mark and Eyes

Euro Gusty has a purple cutie mark anyway so there is not much of an accurate comparison here. Euro Gusty also has forest green eyes too so again, not the best comparison. The eyelashes are a different colour, I have noticed Basic Funs tend to have black eyelashes and pupils, very clean.

Oh man, when I read that euro Gusty has lime eyes I got excited for a moment! I love lime haha. I can see why you'd call it lime, it is definitely a more yellow-green, but lime is a very vibrant color. What you've got is closer to forest green, apparently.

Thanks for explaining the colour, I wasn’t so sure and I thought I read somewhere about it being a shade of lime so I think I’ve confused it with another pony’s eyes

This isle is so cold she should have kept on her winter coat

I think the idea was that its too damp here, or maybe they just didn't have a good reaction when they tested them out before sale?

Maybe, or maybe they knew that kids like putting them in the bath so decided not to bring them over. Or maybe they liked how they looked without fuzz

I'm always game for some Gusty content! Thanks for this neat comparison review! I seriously considered getting basic fun Gusty to get a proper "army" going, maybe I still will! (but i just can't bring myself to collect BBE baby Gusty, lol)

Hopefully the pictures give a better idea of what may be different with the BF one to see if she would be worthy of your army!

BBE Baby Gusty is a no from me too. I would like the NBBE Baby Gusty because like my Gusty, she too is Euro, so I’d like a Euro family. Also, I just really don’t like NBBE one either

I’m going to take her hair out today to start my dream Gusty and I’ll be able to see what’s going on with her mane

I’ve managed to wash it all out, it seems they might dunk the ponies when adding it before the tail? It was easy to get off so it must be loose excess glitter

I just took off her glitter because I am going to recolour the leaves for my dream Gusty (hint: her name will be Rusty Goldleaf).
Underneath it seems it’s stained pink, it’s kind of nice

Wow, between what I'm guessing is the ponies getting packaged while they're still partially melted and all of the excess glitter left inside, among other little signs like Upside Down Applejack having problems with getting dyed by her own tail, it really feels like they've focused much more on production speed than they have on being careful and actually making sure their products are quality... I am losing respect for BF as we speak. :/

My UD-AJ has been stained by her tail and so has my Surprise but I’m not surprised by Surprise seeing as she is white with a neon tail
