Step 1. I recommend that your custom should be mostly done. The raised painting will be delicate.
Step 2. Paint the base of your design.
Step 3. Make your mixture. Mod Podge Outdoor is really thick you will need to dilute it with water. Mix it with a stick or the end of your paint brush to reduce bubbles. You need it thin enough to behave like a liquid but thick enough to manipulate with your paint brush tip. But you do not want it thick enough to leave lumps.
Step 4. Apply (paint) your thinned Mod Podge to your design one layer at a time. Let each layer dry before adding the next. You will know it is dry when it is clear and no longer milky.
Step 5. Keep applying until you have the thickness and look you want. This works best with small designs.
Step 5-5. But if you make a bigger design you will need to layer smaller versions of your design. To give it a nice round mound. If you do not you raised painting will have a flat top. Your larger raised design can be evened out by painting thin layers of your mixture.
Step 6. When dry add any final details. Top your clear design with a clear gloss finish. Be careful not to paint over the edge. Let this cure for a few days.
