I know it’s impossible to tell at this stage, but I would like to know what fans of the past generations think. Would the fans of g5 be fans of the toys, like the good old days? Or will they be primarily fans of the animation that g5 brings, like the fans of g4 are? What would need to occur for the fan base to be drawn to the toys, first and foremost, to ensure the longevity of the My Little Pony franchise, and Hasbro as a business?

If it's as well written as or better than G4, I think it'll be both, like it is now. Older fans focus on the toys, the ones that came on G4 tend to focus on the show, and some are really invested in both. If the show is like any of the incarnations of Pony before G4, I believe overall fans will focus more on the toys. As for what will draw people to the toys is pretty impossible to predict. Even Hasbro has made quite a few mistakes about what the fandom likes. As long as there are fans of the older generations, Hasbro will always reboot it at one point or another.
