I'd like to encourage my daughter to read more, she's not big on it, but right now her thing is Warrior Cats. She also likes quirky stories.
I'd like to try her on some of my old childhood favorites, but I can't remember all their names. I'd like to get her books in a similar vein of Warrior Cats (because she has so many, its getting hard to find ones she doesn't own) and I just purchased Watership Down.
I remember reading a whole bunch of animal books that were from the animals point of view and I think Jean Slaughter Doty wrote some of them.
She turns her nose up at Red Wall so that's out.
Some I've been thinking are
Silver Chief, Dog of the North
Aliens for Breakfast,
Mrs. Fisby and the Rats of NIMH
Brighty of the Grand Canyon
Big Red
Call of the Wild
Bunnicula series
Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher (Bruce Coville books are excellent period.)
What are some of your favorite childhood books?
