I keep waiting for them to name a pony "Petunia"...that's a special nickname of mine.
Special because it came from a guy who's daugther was riding at the farm while I was working there. His name was Dave, he was about the nicest person I ever met. My father worked and still works there, and he and Dave quickly became friends. The first time he introduced us, Dave took one look at me and said "Why you're pretty as a Petunia!" and from that day forward, I was always Petunia. I became Dave's buddy, we'd watch his daugther ride and talk horses for hours. Whenever he'd see me, he'd say "C'mere Petunia, sit down with me and have a little talk."
Everyone at the farm loved Dave, and he had such a great outlook on life he was an inspiration to all of us. Sadly, we were only blessed to have Dave with us for one summer. The fall after I was christened "Petunia", he died of a sudden heart attack.
It's odd how someone can be in your life only briefly but touch you in a way you never forget. I plant Petunias every summer in his memory, and people at the farm still call me "Petunia", lol.
I never get called nice things at work. People know, but don't know names of ponies or anything, so I just get called by my real name, "the guy who likes ponies", "Pony lover" or "ponyboy". Kinda bothersome, but at least they aren't real mean about it
I have a friend who calls me (among a plethora of nicknames, ranging from Alice [a la Alice's Adventures in Wonderland] to Purincessu) Morning Glory, from My Little Pony: The Movie. She's Baby Lickity Split. *giggles*
