This is an urgent appeal to any who read this. IF YOU WANT TO HELP, ALL COMMENTS MUST BE IN BY FRIDAY! Even if you don't live in this area, all comments will help! We need as many comments as possible. If you value human health, wildlife, and everything good in the world, this project must not go forward! The project in question wants to build the largest wind turbines in North America right here in Ontario. 80 OF THEM. Right in the path of migrating birds, even though turbines are known to massacre birds. Wind turbines have a known negative impact on domestic animals - and no studies done to show they have no such effect on wild species. But if they make pets and livestock sick, and make human beings sick, then by all logic they will make wild animals sick as well. Farmers have reported the complete die-off of rodents on their property. If the low frequency noise from these turbines is enough to kill off rats... it will kill anything.

Turbines are NOT the green solution you've been told they are. They are dirty in all respects. They are built with non-recyclable metal that is strip mined in china. They will end up in landfills. They will NOT result in the decommissioning of coal plants - coal plants will actually be producing more pollution as they are forced to run in stand by mode to pick up when the winds die down. Turbines are a visual pollutant - they are ugly. They are a noise pollutant - they are noisy, both in audible and inaudible sound. THEY MAKE PEOPLE SICK.

Anyway. If you'd like to help out, you can post a 'no wind turbines' comment by going here:

Sierra Club (an environmental group in the US considered by some--not me-- to be rather radical) supports this technology, BUT with many, many caveats based on, I am certain, in-depth investigations. So there is merit in both arguments (pro and con). Here is their position:

Sierra Club Conservation Policies - Wind Siting Advisory

Pretty much a weighing of the good against the bad of ANY technology and coming down fairly strongly on the side of wind turbines *IF DONE PROPERLY AND WITH ATTENTION PAID TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT of proposed placement*.

They are ugly is also an opinion. I think they look nice and I love seeing them.
