How many ponies are in your collection?

I’m curious how many ponies are in everyone’s collection! I myself wanted to just have 50, but I’m thinking that may not be too realistic

but I'm recently considering selling a few (around 20 or so) that aren't favorites or that I ended up with incidentally (lots, gifts, set completers, impulse/fomo buys). Big collections are impressive and beautiful in their own way but I prefer for myself and really appreciate seeing others with smaller, very curated, collections. I've got just 2-3 more I want at this point. I have gone up and down with my MLP collection over the years. The most I've had is a little over 300. In 2018 I reduced down to just 4. About a year ago started collecting again. Now I'm starting to feel I maybe went a little over my re-collecting goal.

That’s how I feel too! I mainly collect American girl and i drastically downsized this year, and now I enjoy my collection so much more. For ponies i really just want the characters from the movies and ones from the merch. Not necessarily ones that are just cute if that makes sense?
 
I have about 25 in my new collection plus around 20 petites, then a bag full of baits stuffed into a closet that I need to deal with eventually lol. They were from my old collection but they were left uncovered in a garage for several years. Luckily most are common! My new collection is more carefully curated since my apartment is very small!

That sounds like such a nice collection!
 
I need to count and when I get round to it, I’m gonna have to break it down because I see my collection in two halves: childhood and “reboot” as in when I started collecting again during college (2017/18, my final year)

I’d definitely see those as different collections too! I unfortunately don’t have any of my original childhood ponies anymore, just my “reboot” collection as you called it
 
Back when I was deep in the pony collecting world in the early/mid 2000’s, I had well over 1000. I sold a most of my collection off when i took a (12 year) break. My collection is smaller now.
If I had to guess, I would say 400ish. I really should do an accurate count.

Wow! That’s seriously so impressive! Did you have all of them displayed at the time too?

Thank you! Maybe I’ll post the whole room in the show and tell forum. I painted most of the ponies from my little pony and friends series. Unfortunately I don’t have the best photos. And that was early on. Way more ponies were added. I loved and breathed ponies! LOL
