How to change the batteries in light-up G2s?

Hello, I recently got the light-up Princess Silver Swirl and baby Swirly. Naturally, nothing happens when I press the button on her chest. Should I just remove her head to replace the batteries? But the button is in her chest, so that makes me a bit nervous that I'll ruin something - I don't want to be violently opening a toy with electronics inside without knowing what I'm doing.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I'm new here! :)

Well, I got curious and decided to open my Princess Silver Swirl as she was already in pretty poor condition. All I can say is that probably she's beyond repairable and here's why.

When you remove her head (which can lead to detaching wires from the LED in her horn as they're not very long), you see something like this:

Firstly, the hole in her neck is too narrow to access the LED and solder the wires back. However, you can take out the LED and put it back together. A small orange plastic holder carries the LED.

Secondly, the orange thing which holds the neck and carries wires, button and battery, is a one whole piece glued together and is large as it reaches almost pony's hind legs. I tried to remove it but with no result :( Feels like it's glued only to her neck, but still. I asked my husband for help and he couldn't, too. I assume that this thing may be installed together or right after forming the pony's body. Even if you can remove it, the whole scheme is almost sealed in plastic and you'll have to break it to reach the battery (which, I assume, is in her her belly as there's an activating button in her chest, so the battery must be somewhere behind it). I also should notice that even though the orange plastic is pretty thick, it breaks easily.

Also, if your pony has original eye gems, be careful not to lose them as you try to fix her, because they can easily glue off. That's exactly what happened to my Silver Swirl, but luckily I noticed it in time, found the gems and going to reinstall them.

In my opinion, it's better to leave the pony as is as she's extremely hard to repair because she's very small. I'm afraid there's no chance to fix the battery without breaking anything, but I also can be wrong and maybe someone can do it right! I'll just glue my Silver Swirl back and resculpt her already broken horn.

Let me know if you need more photos!

Thanks a lot for going through the effort to investigate! That does look really complicated.
The only thing that comes to my mind is to check whether the orange plastic thing with the electronics goes further back inside her body or not. If it goes back to hold a longer battery in her belly, I really don't see a way of changing it. Maybe, just maybe, if it's very small and holding a button battery or two right there in her chest (so, essentially, if the button in the chest is the only part significantly sticking out to the sides), then it could be carefully pulled out through the neck. Assuming it doesn't break.

You're right, it does sound like too much work. If it were a one time thing, OK, but, well, every battery is going to die, and having to do all that every time is just too complicated and with too much potential of damaging her... I wish they'd made them easier to change.

Good luck fixing her eyes and horn, I hope you make her all pretty again! :)

The orange plastic thing does go further. I can't tell where exactly it ends, but it's in her belly, too, and goes almost to her back legs. I accidentally broke the part of this thing which holds the head, so I decided to reach further and it turned out that activating button is right in the center of her neck and chest.

Here it is, it looks grey. This means that battery is somewhere behind (or maybe even below?) the button.

I agree, it would be much, much better if you could easily replace the battery. But, she might just not meant to be repairable :(

Thank you!
