I can't get the fabric softener out of my ponies hair

I have a Cheif. His hair was a bit dry, so I used fabric softener to help deal with the frizz. He has no frizz now, but after doing many many rewashes of his hair, I can still feel the stickiness of the fabric softener. His hair no longer feels the same. Is this fixable? Or have I messed him up lol?

I think you probably haven’t messed him up too bad. Have you tried dish soap? It likely will dry the hair out but it’s really great for getting greasy textures out.

Yeah, soap is good at breaking down grease! I used fabric softener once and will never use it again, it makes the hair all yukky

a drop or two of dish soap should do the trick, not a lot though!

Good! I should add, follow up with regular hair conditioner and rinse in hot water to help any frizz and to make it softer
