So I'm sculpting a goatee today for a custom in the HQG1C Mimic pose glow pony (it's not Luminary this time!) I'm hoping that while I work on this someone will post some tips and tricks, just in case it turns out to be harder than I expect. I'm using epoxy.

I’m excited to see your results. I’m hoping to make actionhank’s avatar someday.

@Tak might wanna use real hair for that! maybe in wefts? Then again, I shouldn't give anyone advice, I'm kinda new to this....

anyway here is Moon Garden with his special glow in the dark accessory that matches his symbol (thanks She-Ra!), and then with his new masculine chin attribute....it went pretty smoothly! I wonder if I'll have to make the beard glow so he still looks good in the dark.

Nice! He looks good!

If you plan on using epoxy, I'd puncture a small hole where you want to place the goatee on the pony and join the body with the goatee with a toothpick or something- add glue to ensure it won't fall off. The hole would 'anchor' the epoxy in place.

What you sculpted looks awesome!

I was thinking I would have to use some kind of wire if I did that and it was so beyond me that I just relied on the wet epoxy to adhere itself. It says it's supposed to adhere and it seems pretty strong, but this is only the second project I've used it on (well, third, but the first was two projects at the same time....).

Anyway, Moon Garden is done, along with another glow big brother custom, so I will post them together soon, since I have the glamour shots...funny, even with that goat beard I keep calling it "she."

Hey! check out your new avatar! That is cool!

It's not so much that the epoxy won't stick as that the pony plastic is very flexible and the epoxy dries totally rigid. On the chin it's probably fine cause I can't imagine you're gonna be like squeezing his cheeks often, but if it were something like wings on the pony's side that would experience a lot more movement and eventually it might pop off.
