After four months, I've finally finished giving all of my G1s their first "deep clean." Phew!
Now I'm ready to tackle my G3s!
Just as I was about to throw the first batch into an oxy bath, it hit me.
These pretty fillies have magnets.
The magnets in my G1 seaponies were pretty nasty, so it wouldn't surprise me if I need to do something with these too...

Think I should remove them before they hit the bath? After the bath?
Or can I leave them? o_O

Thank you for your help!

I’ve never had to remove a G3 magnet or seen any hoof rust. I don’t usually take their heads off, but even in ones I have there’s never been an issue if you dry them adequately. I would love to hear about others’ experiences though.

I’ve never removed magnets from my G3’s. In my experience with G3’s, they’ve never rusted at the hooves. The magnets are in a pink casing in their hooves. When I was a kid, I chewed a couple out … I wish I hadn’t. They are really glued in hard there.

If G3 washers have broken up from rust, they may magnetise into the leg and stick against the bottom of the leg. I’ve found putting a magnet against the outside of the leg and moving it towards the neck hole (on a beheaded pony) can help get those pieces out if they’re really stuck in there after doing a deep clean

Nah. I've never seen magnets rust. You would only hafta do it, if the hoof containing the magnet was damaged. They're in their own little space.

@blueming, @StormMaeker, and @Leave a Whisper, thank you so much for your replies!
Glad to know I don't have to remove the hoof magnets. (I was honestly kinda dreading it! XD)
I didn't realize some were made with metal washers and some weren't.
I'll be sure to try the pony tango before removing any more heads! :winkpony:

This first batch I've started on all had metal washers, but no tail rust.
I'd like to remove the metal washers to play it safe, especially since I live where there is high humidity.

None appear to have hoof rust. :)
